The Blue Jays should should try shaking up the coaching staff first. Bringing in someone like Jesse Barfield - the coach who worked with Vlad and Two in 2021 - could try a different approach. Guillermo Martinez just keeps doing the same thing over and over again with analytics, and has always had to rely on former major leaguers like Dante Bichette to come in and fix things whenever the team struggles. Guillermo washed out of single-A ball at age 23, because he was a horrible hitter.

I dunno Jim. What is the upside of acquiring Vladdy in a trade? And who is going to pay him what he thinks he's worth? What he's putting out isn't on the Cubs or Dodgers list of must haves. What a lot of people don’t know already is that the asking price for Bo and Vlad were reportedly incredibly high. I don’t think any of these trades would be near deals that the Jays would accept.

Jim, As a Dodger Fan, I do not think the Dodgers would trade Jackson Ferris. There are many others, even 2 before they give up that one.

What about the Cubs trading for Jansen or Kirk? They need a solid catcher right now I could see them possibly trading with the Jays for one of them and Pete Alonso from the Mets.

You should have taken out Houston for any trade for these two. Houston could use a new 1B, but they have no prospects for Vlad and I don't think Crane would see the value of that trade. The Rangers are going to have their money issues with their current roster, so I don't think they will have any space for any of the two.

The Jays need hitters more than they need starting pitchers. Any players coming to Toronto would have to include hitting prospects as well as relief pitching prospects.

I’d lock up Bo and build the team around him and move Vladdy for prospects. Would they also be looking to move Kevin Gausman, Chris Bassitt and Yusei Kikuchi away given there contract statuses and ages? Retool this roster on the fly. Berrios, Rodriguez, Manoah and Francis isn’t ideal to finish out this season but we move Guerrero, Bassitt, Gausman and Kikuchi we should be able to bring in a nice HAUL of prospects including GOOD pitching prospects. We can then go in to free agency with a good chunk of money to add free agent pitchers like Walker Buehler, max fried or even Corbin Burnes.

I don't want to lose either one of them but if we had no choice but to keep only one of them, I would 100% hope they keep Bo. Let's hope this conversation is for nothing and they take advantage of the schedule and put up a nice record over the next 2-3 weeks.

Been thinking about this for a couple years. I like your thought process but a couple things. 1) Atkins can’t make these deals. So click needs to take over in the next few weeks. Idk. 2) Bo is gonna get ya more than Vlad. Premium position and history of leading league in hits more than once. Vlad well, maybe potentially a better hitter but hasn’t shown he is. 3) maybe can we go less in the 6-8 player return and see if we can get a #2-3 prospect instead? I feel we can’t play roulette here so we need real talent. So I want a #1 or #2 prospect and maybe a useful player for now. Rolling the dice with these trades and honestly idk if any of them hit.

How about this... Dbacks could send SS Jordan Lawlar (#9 MLB prospect) to Toronto for Vlad, since Christian Walker is a free agent after the year. That would also be an instant Bichette replacement and Lawlar has a higher potential ceiling than Bichette. Though Vlad is arguably a downgrade from Walker, he's much younger as Walker will be 34 to start the 2025 season. Vladdy would tear up Chase field and could definitely re claim his swing in AZ.

I highly doubt management is serious about moving Vladdy or Bo if indeed there prices are high. Akins might not even make it to the trade deadline anyways so to me this is a complete nothing burger. Akins is clearly on panic mood. Trying anything to save his job. He makes me physically ill. Cubs completely retooled and they are just about back. Just need to get some solid pitching. For the Jays if they do decide to retool it will be a long rebuild.
