@@SaltyToad00 Except it very much can, because this isn't actually distributing anything infringing on Nintendo's IP, all that's being distributed is an IPS patch file that on its own is nothing and is useless. The user has to manually patch it to their own Mario 64 rom for it to even do anything, unlike fangames and especially fanmade remakes which are distributing free game software directly containing Nintendo's IP and often assets. If this ages poorly I'll gladly eat my own words, but historically since romhacks have switched to being distributed through these patch files that aren't games themselves, basically none of them have been taken down because there's not much they can take down. So there's no precedent for something like this being shut down at least, and there have been other patch-based hacks that have gotten much more attention that also didn't get shut down, like the Newer Super Mario Bros. series.

This is a good idea, but there better be expansions and updates for this. Too much is missing in this, based on the videos I have seen so far. It has custom content, but unfortunately not everything from the original game is here yet. 😿🔮

Dude, it's a mod. You have to have the rom file (in whatever way you obtain it) so they cant really take it down. If that happened, then any other mod for anything could be taken down

@@ThenamesC Did that ever mattered? Lesser rom hacks have fallen just by existing in their general direction, even if done by one person, for free. It always just takes one simple exposure for them to try and crack down. A much bigger example is the Relic Castle website which got DMCA'd for hosting Pokémon Essentials, a module for the RPG Maker XP engine that lets you make your own Pokémon fangames. And that's not a rom hack. The website was also very quiet and very unassuming in some aspects, but it only took one tip to TPC to do it in, despite the years being in the background of the scene.

Literally the same thing happens with projects mimicking Paper Mario TTYD. A product of this is Bug Fabels. Super Mario maker came to be out of inspiration of projects that the fan base design themselves.

People don’t understand anything on their own now a days if Nintendo sees something they take it down plain and simple. It doesn’t matter if it’s a goddamn rom they will take it down!

This blows Kaze's hack out of the water, but that's because Kaze's hack is basically ancient and he had NONE of the advanced tools and resources available now. He himself has advertised this new hack, there's no shame in admitting this is much better because it objectively is, and also couldn't have been made back when Kaze made his hack.

Don't forget styles based on Super Marios Sunshine, Galaxies 1 and 2, 3D Land, 3D World(again) and Odyssey for 3D mode. As for the 2D mode styles, it'd have to have all of the ones from Mario Maker 2, plus the ones I mentioned, in 2D as well, and Super Mario Bros Wonder.

All that Nintendo needs to take down repository is to file issue ticket with properly filled Cease an Desist order, and GitHub's copyright protection AI will instantly delete offending repository with copyright strike to his author. 3 strikes, and account is banned, nuking rest of his repositories.
