Imagine if this game was revealed in a modern day Nintendo Direct and nobody knew what it was until they saw Mario and Sonic together. The internet would explode! It'd be insanity!

I think Sonic wasn’t running as fast as usual because if he would it’d kind of be considered cheating being able to run at the speed of sound. He’d win basically every Track medal in history with that speed.
It’s a little weird that Sega and Nintendo were enemies and then they worked together to bring sonic the hedgehog and super Mario together in the Olympics
It's like they finally figured out what the wet dream of thousands of gamers is but instead of doing anything useful with it it's fucking Olympic minigames.
But it’s still a critically acclaimed game series, even if it’s not an action and adventure story with Mario & Sonic. That should be clear as the game series has reached widespread acclaimed!

I never really understood these games. Don't get me wrong I like them fine,but I just kinda find it strange that the story they doing for bringing the two biggest video game icons together is having them do the olympics. I mean,no epic adventure for the two and their allies having to team up to take down the combined forces of Dr.Eggman and Bowser? I don't know,maybe its just me.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was stated that a game of that magnitude couldn't exist because they're both "different". TBF, Sonic games have always had a slight "edge" to them compared to Mario games so you'd take them a bit more serious, with the ONLY Exceptions in Mario's case being the Striker series. Add in the sheer angsty edge of what Shadow the Hedgehog was trying to be and you get 2 very incompatible games. It's not like it couldn't work (just look at SMBZ for example). It's just, either the seriousness would have to be toned down in Sonic's case (which they've done on occasion) or taken up a few notches in Mario's for that balance, and considering how serious Nintendo is about making Mario games serious . . . well there's your answer.
@@hardcoresonicandspongebobf4169 heres proof *They are both on the same planet that has fantasy versions of Beijing, Vancouver and London. In his own games Sonic's story still takes on not Earth and the Mario series is a modular franchise with a very loose continuity to begin with.*
@@twillacatron7596 it’s never been truly confirmed, so its sorta in grey area for now, but lemme put out a theory here, they do live in the same universe, Mario used to but moved into the parallel universe which is Mushroom Kingdom. As for Sonic, it’s been confirmed in TailsTube that they do live in small islands in Earth (like West Side, Angel, and other island) which definitely means this holds a lot of water. Most of the Mario games takes place in a happy-go-lucky parallel version of Earth, while the Sonic games take place in the real world, a more grittier, more serious world. Of course it’s no secret that the only way to go to Mushroom Kingdom and vice versa is by the Warp Pipes. Sonic goes in the bigger cities like Station Square by Warp Rings or they could uses boats but it’s not really ideal as if they could get lost. This might get retconned soon, especially with Sonic, cause I never really see Retconned Mario games, if they retconned the “anthropomorphic animals live in small islands while humans live bigger countries” and go to the “two planets” route, we could honestly easily cover that with the warp rings. Anyways, thats it for now.

I like how now in present day the idea of Mario and Sonic coming together means absolutely nothing. Toads and flickies together? Who cares. Sonic has pretty much failed as a series at this point.
