0:28 for some reason I like the way Yoshi hops around on one foot before falling down. I just think it’s cute; makes sense since he is the cutest video game character ever.
A lot of animations were reused. The fun part is that the camera angle is more zoomed in for Sluggers, so some characters go off screen (notably Bowser).
Mario Super Sluggers was a sequel to this game, so the devs reused a lot of assets and mechanics that were in this game. The bean ball animations was one of them.
I Quite odd I find Bowser is More often beaned since he hits home runs very often, I saw it on Dinger city videos where sometimes he goes before Hammer Bro. for the Chemistry Boost. and hit a 2-3 Run Home run or a Grand Slam
Mario: Pretty simple animation, voice clip is actually from MKDS (Both games released in the same year.) Luigi: Falls to the ground. Peach: Does the same. Daisy: Jumps and lands on the ground in a sitting position, then shakes her head. Wario: Flutters like Yoshi??? And then lands on back. Waluigi: Similar to Luigi, but falls backward and the voice clip is from MKDD and MKDS. Yoshi: Bounces around, but why does he look sad? Birdo: Shakes it off.. Donkey Kong: Charges the mound (best animation). Diddy Kong: Stays in his place and gets mad at the pitcher. Bowser: Shakes it off and then gets mad at the pitcher. Bowser Jr.: Sort of flails. Toad: Does multiple flips and lands on back. Toadette: Simple jump animation. Toadsworth: Does a flip and lands on belly. Shy Guy: Bounces into a flip and lands on belly. Koopa Troopa: Goes straight into shell, flipping. Koopa Paratroopa: Does the same. Goomba: Simple jump animation. Paragoomba: Jumps and then uses his wings in some way. Boo: I know for a fact that the ball should have gone straight through him, am I right? King Boo: Same thing here. Magikoopa: Simple jump animation. Dixie Kong: Simple jump animation, then lands crying. Baby Mario: Jumps and then cries. Baby Luigi: Does the same. Dry Bones: Breaks apart. Monty Mole: Simple jump animation. Pianta: Looks kind of mad. Noki: Goes into whatever his thing is; but same as Ko
My guess is that Yoshi looks sad since he is used to feeling the betrayal of Mario throwing him into pits or something. Or maybe he just really wanted to hit the ball rather than get hit by the ball
This is Mario Superstar Baseball for the GameCube. Not Mario Super Sluggers for the Wii. Tiny Kong, Funky Kong, Baby DK, Kritter, and King K. Rool aren't in this one.
The game uses different models for the playable characters hands for holding the bat, ball, and wearing the glove. When Baby Luigi does his bean ball animation, the game switches his bat hand model with the normal hand model.
