Unfortunately, while congress has subpoena power, it is not the same as a court of law. The courts are part of the judicial system and can arrest those who fail to show up. Congress is part of the legislature and has to basically ask the judicial system for assistance.

I was made aware in certain terms that I'd had been arrested had I not shown up in front of a judge regarding an investigation. Someone in my company ripped off an insurance firm and it had decided that I was shielding the suspect. No such thing, and ultimately my company was held blameless but the judge showed me the arrest order, ready to sign, had I not shown up, and WITH the documents that proved our non- involvement in the matter. I suppose people in high places are above legal obligations.

Strange that you can be threatened with contempt of court and arrest if you don't show up for local jury duty, but you can just go about your day and ignore a subpoena from Congress.

This was partly a cultural heritage that went back to Eastern Europe and also because Jewish Americans have often looked at social justice as a worthy cause. On the *OTHER* hand there are performance artists (otherwise known as circus clowns) like Large Marge, Bimboboert, Matt "Finally got a High School Girlfriend" Gaetz, Madison "Never Was Accepted as a Naval Cadet I Just Played One for the Campaign" Cawthorn, who just play to the mindless goons that say they're *not* racist but they're still kinda cool with racism.

· Jamie Raskin of Maryland, who is serving on the Judiciary Committee, is the son of pro-communist activist, Marcus Raskin who in the 60s co-founded the Institute for Policy Studies. This was described by British intelligence as the perfect intellectual front for Soviet activities, which would have met with resistance if they were done openly by the KGB. He also works very closely with the Democratic Socialists of America and has employed their people as staff members and written articles for their publication. On an interesting side note, the Democratic Socialists of America hold their meetings at the headquarters of the Institute of Policy Studies. Raskin also worked for Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow Coalition in the 1980s, which was run for the most part by the Communist Workers’ Party and the League of Revolutionary Struggle with help from the Democratic Socialists of America and the Communist Party USA. He is also involved with the National Iranian Action Committee and was instrumental in the successful campaign to reinstate the American Iranian nuclear deal.
