This guy was /is a diamond in the rough, to have your "friends" steal your music, kick you out of the band you wrote the music for, still tour under the name grand funk, playing HIS music, sending him cease and desist letters to not play HIS music after don lied to him about what he was signing during a night of partying. What can I say about Mark Farner?? A R&R icon, a survivor of the most brutal betrayal, an attitude of love and patriotism, a Jesus loving , part Cherokee American Indian, most of all I respect Mark Farner as a man. God Bless you Mark, I've been a fan since hearing the 1970 live album and wish you continuing health (can't believe you're 71!!!), happiness and continued success and for showing 99% of the selfish children in music today what's truly important in life. God Bless you... ROCK ON MARK!!!!

Being from Detroit, Mark was considered a "homeboy". We partied with these guys when in town and when just playing the records at parties. Years of great music and great times! We're all considered old now but Mark still sounds great and I love his music and his heart! Truly a great! Some of best concerts ever! Cobo in Detroit! Mark is GFR!

I tell my daughter all the time, just to tease her, that I was totally cooler than her because we grew up in the 70s when the greatest rock music was being made and men like Mark Farner burned up the stage. We just don't see that true raw talent anymore. He succeeded when all the rock journalists tried to say he sucked. Not true!!! He's the people's front man, all the way.

This band is tight, together, and VERY vibrant. Those other guys calling themselves Grand Funk Railroad that tour with that 5-piece band will NEVER have that unless they patch things up with Mark Farner. He runs this show and he knows how a good band should sound. And he takes care of himself to still be able to do this stuff.

The GUESS WHO was my band until 1969 when a good friend of mine turned me on too Mark and the two other people in GRAND FUNK RAILROAD. I used to have respect for the three of them. Now I wouldn't spit on the other two's grave. As for MARK FARNER I have the utmost respect and love for the man. His words and music made me pretty much the man I am today. Just think, a year before he lost his on. He suffered a spinal injury in the back yard while performing a back flip. Every penny he made went to caring for his son. He finally succumbed to his injury last year. It boggles my mind how he could have dealt with it. All I can say is he is a good Christian man and God took care of him. He doesn't drink or smoke or do any drugs and it shows. Two weeks after I saw them as a teenager they literally broke Shea Stadium. Watch the video. The place was Rockin!!!

He is damn lucky to be still able to play, I had to stop playing drums because of three bad car accidents that left me with a real messed up back, I was a pro drummer in LA, Calif, worked in off broadway shows and other country and rock bands, played guitar, keys and sang, I had to go onto disability, but after a lot of years I have made fairly good progress I can play at home again but not in bars. I remember when Grand Funk first started out, they were so damn hot, saw them several times then they did not pay their taxes, this is a damn good band, I'd pay to see these guys.

It was not Mark that caused the IRS problems. There were a lot of problems created when Don and Mel tricked him into giving up his rights and how Terry, their crooked manager, kept most of the money they initially made. Watching this, I was thinking about all the other rock singers around his same age whose vocals are shot and can't sing anymore--Robert Plant, Roger Daltrey, Steve Walsh, Steve Perry, Steve Tyler. Ozzy never really was much of a "singer", more of a "figurehead". Only Mark still stands with his pipes intact after age 70, and God bless him--I hope he can still sing when he's 100!

Mark Farner still sounds dope, man ! He doesn,t need those other hacks on the band, hell ,they betrayed the only guy that gave them fame.Without this awsome man, they would have never made it big.Mark Farner is Grand Funk Railroad.Everyone else are just a bud light version.
