North Greenville was definitely in the shitter. Year one worst ,2 conference wins previous year to first. His first year NG was picked to finish last. They won their conference and made a deep run. He is 42 years old and a really good man. He has a recent RU-vid video interview that will tell you a lot about him. He called and caught a perfecr game for the Athletics. His career never really took off because of injuries and liver disease. I don't make the money or call the shots , but he was my choice seven years ago , and he's my choice today. He took himself out of consideration years ago because he apparently didn't like the terms he would be hired under. He's also stated at one point, that the only program he would ever leave NORTH GREENVILLE for is his alma mater SC. it might be a little risky or controversial but he's my guy. I believe in him , and he will not be bullied. He will choose great assistants and he knows the people. This guy is incredible. If someone lures him away from NORTH GREENVILLE, we will be kicking ourselves in the ass for the next couple of decades. Sort of like when Bobby Cremins was at Appalachian State , SC needed a basketball coach and we hired a bum instead of Cremins. Cremins went to Georgia Tech and we tried and tried to hire him but it was not gonna happen. But , as bad as i hate to say this , the politicians at SC will probably f this one up as well. This baseball program is too special to dwell in mediocrity and take a back seat in this conference. This program with the right staff can turn this thing around immediately.
At least when they gave Kingston a salary raise extension for this season, they didn't increase his buyout. They "ONLY" have to fork over $400,000 for Kingston's buyout. Hopefully Tanner will continue his tendency of make the wrong hire and continue his streak as one of the worst ADs.
They should have let Ray Tanner go to, because he is the one who hired him, and he needs to be fired, because he is not a good AD at all, that school needs new leadership, from the top down to the bottom. Cancel Reply
@CarolinaJackpot try driving in Virginia, also our weather up here always sucks too. This is the most important Baseball hire since Ray himself was hired in 1996, I pray they don't screw it up, but I have to admit I don't have much faith in this current administration to get it right.
