I often see people showing us all how to play like Mark Knopfler but the truth is that the only way to play like Mark Knopfler is to be Mark Knopfler. He is a very special human being, he is a little "different" and we should all be grateful for that, celebrate it, then try and be the best versions of ourselves that we can be ❤

Master Knopfler most likely will not be given the recognition or acclaim he is worthy & deserving of in his lifetime, sadly not uncommon, but I rather think he’s not interested or seeking those things; that’s not who he is. To me it seems he wants his music, the notes & lyrics, to touch us & mean sumthin to us. For those of us he has touched thru his artistic GENIUS he gets the recognition & acclaim & somehow he knows. But again I don’t think he iz consciously seeking it though I believe it makes him happy & he appreciates it. That’s why he iz still giving so much of himself. His notes, verses, & choruses don’t come from his brain, they come from who he iz, his heart & soul. Every song iz a small part, a brush stroke, of a master piece that will never be finished. Kinda like the “Mona Lisa,” DaVinci never finished it cuz he kept adding more strokes. While Master Knopfler keeps adding more notes.

After decades of being fond of Indian, Chinese, Greek, Irish music, Jerry Douglas, Merle Huggard, Willie Nelson, Don Williams, Krueger Bros, Gaither band, Piano Guys, etal, I encountered Mark Knopfler- WOW, quite a distinctive incomparable musical Culture... which requires special ear, special perception, inner harmony peculiar only to MK tunes... Heavenly sounds far from mass-pop-anticulture... Surely Mark is special phenomenon in our imperfect world- many thanx to his parents :))
Simply stated. The very best of the best Mark. Keep it rolling. 70 is just a state of mind and every time I listen to your music I'm I'm impressed by the vigor I feel.
We took our granddaughter to see Mark's band when they were in Sydney quite a few years ago. She has been hooked ever since. She was about 14 at the time and really enjoyed the night, especially when they played Sultans of Swing.
It's so hard to lose someone you have known for so long and part of you is without the need for acceptace! Thats obviously an original danelectro so worth some $$ but in its day it was a cheap dept store or mail order (Think Sears and Roebuck) guitar. Very popular slide machine used by the greats, MK , Jimmy Page and on and on. Can still buy the re issues of course. MK makes this sound like a $10,000 guitar. Its all in the fingers they reckon.
