This reminds me of some Lust For Life Iggy Pop stuff, his voice is/was so incredible. I still can’t believe he’s gone. Rest In Peace Mr. Lanegan. You are very much missed 💔
I was in that park when a strange guy sat right next to me listening to Old Swan. I memorized a line so I could google it. I happened to discover a voice who I seem never to get tired of. Mark Lanegan is just perfect.
His voice...His baritonal tone....The obscure presence of the man himself: I can't remember anything so close to the damnation of the french decadent poetry and, at the same time, so amazingly modern. Mark Lanegan is by far the Lautremont of our times. He is not an underrated musician: he is an artist who will probably escape from the contemporary crowd comprehension to became a milestone later. Anyway, long live the Emperor.
Vincenzo Pasculli, well your view on this subject it is pleasant, but an exageration, not even Mark is no so damn or decadent, like he or anybody else is far from be a Lautremont, and much more far of be a RIMBAUD.
I agree-I reckon the entire PNW scene will be discovered by a barren society in the near future and lauded....there is such a rich vein of talent to uncover there.
I discovered this song on the first day of the war between RU and UA. To be honest, I feel like there is something in common between the conflict and the song.
Emperor I awoke in fright No love, no one to save me Night after night So lonely, lonely baby Why can't I get right? All these demons to enslave me Who is left to fight? Just the emperor Just the emperor Just the emperor On the water still My boat violently shaking I need another pill Another bitter pill to wake me Upon the window sill The cat silently quaking Who is left to kill? Just the emperor Just the emperor Just the emperor The battlefield is crossed The flag and castle falling Is the army lost? Command no longer calling Into an early frost A few survivors crawling Who could know the cost? Just the emperor Just the emperor Just the emperor
per me era la prima volta ed essendo il mio "salvatore" per vari motivi è stato ancora più speciale adesso terrò quel ricordo per sempre sulla mia pelle perche ho il suo autografo sul braccio fatto da lui adesso tatuato *-*
I knew him back in 2012. First one I've listened to was "The Graveddiger's Song" and I love him since. Have you listened to "Bleeding Muddy Water" yet? Or "Skeleton Key"? Just some of the all great songs fron Mark. ❤
