He has a big family support. I wish he make better choices in his life and not killed those people.. sad situation.. RIP to the lives loss..

No-one could accuse Markeith's lawyer is not working hard on his behalf.

Big brothers are always gona make sure their siblings eat. Mine did and he did some things he's not proud of to get us food too. He is saved and still calls to make sure I'm good as well as our mom. He uses his off days to take her to run errands and go shopping and he caters to his wife and daughter.

His sister seems like a nice person, but a terrible childhood is no excuse for murder.

No fathers in any of their lives for generations. The culture has to change before this will get better for other in the same situations. Sad this happens so often.

Markeith's mom wasn't strict; she was abusive & negligent to her children.

Mom was receiving benefits for 2 of her kids and worked so much she was never home...but they still went hungry and uncared for

Such a chaotic and unstable family situation. Sadly this is far too common.

None of the children are telling that their mom was drawing 2 military checks plus working & blowing in the money partying & getting pregnant instead of buying food & paying the bills. She left those children to fend for themselves.

This is such a sad story because it sounds like there was a lot of good in Markeith at one point in time…… just shows how a life with no stability or consistency, no steady father figure in the home, no positive male role models to learn from, having to deal with adult issues as a child or teen, and making really bad choices that caused him to go to prison, really changed him. Markeith Comes from a very supportive and loving family, but somewhere along the line he turned into someone who was paranoid, thought he was entitled, thought he could control women, and had no respect for women. He chose to kill Sade and his unborn child that night and tried to kill her brother, and later killed Lieutenant Deborah Clayton in cold blood. He deserves whatever punishment he gets.

Taking someone/s life is absolutely no excuse what's so ever.

Man this dude has to be crazy after going through all this stuff at a young age ptsd etc he should have gotten help years ago..His mother played a big part of his pain very selfish and abusive lady..

Everybody has bad stuff happen to some degree granted some worse than others. I was physically, verbally and sexually assaulted as a child. My mother was too busy with her boy friends but that didn’t make me hurt others. What has a photo got to do with the murder of two innocents? Why is he always getting into fights?

Me and my 9 brothers and sisters were raised my a single mother. Many nights we went to bed hungry. We also watched roots a lot growing up. My mom spanked the heck out of us… none of us are out there murdering people ! EXCUSES ARE SO ANNOYING TO ME!!

This has been the longest Court case ever!!. No matter what the family says, he killed his baby mother and his baby point blank, whether he watched roots or cops, he executed an innocent police officer because he felt she was going to arrest him, he keeps procrastinating to be outside his jail cell!!.. please keep this monster locked up for life!

I thought the sister said the mom was never there. Who had them n church where he sang in the choir. What is this upbringing with roots in the church that he moved away from after prison. Did another adult take over their upbringing at some point.

Good Job on the Defense! Sadly it's a tough Case, but I like the Defense's Professionalism! His Sister is a very nice Lady, and there's a lot of love towards her brother. I wish these awful situations wouldn't happen.

I’m tired of hearing about that damn roots movie. Roots is a watered down version of what happened to us as African Americans. I watch Roots every year without getting upset. Now Trying watching the movie Carolina Skeletons, The Lena Baker story, and or The Emmitt Till story! This affected me more than anything.....pissed me the hell off.

31:15 they always want the jury to hear the incriminating points which is usually one major one then they tell the witness to get off the stand promptly. Markeiths sister just stated that Markeith was angrier when he got out of jail and she doesn't realise it at all what that evaluates to when we consider if you should get parole. Your own family will mess you up by design and it's not their fault, it's the prosecution picking out what they want the jury to hear. Pay attention to the random jumps with questions asking about thirty years ago in the past to a few weeks ago etc All of this is to express his inner self character to evaluate if Markeith is a menace to society and if he likely went crazy on the Sade and her brother that fatal day. There's other things she has said that may not match up to Markeith character besides their negligible anyhow because we all caneed be slightly different from week to week and in different environments too.

How was he able to steal loafs of bread, bologna and soda?? Where was he stuffing that stuff at?😳

I do have to say, when he was a young man he did what he could for his family and they seem to have turned out good despite the upbringing they all had with virtually no parents. And now I wonder if he had received better medical attention after the beating he endured whether it be from a kidnapping or not, perhaps they would have found brain damage and been able to do something about it. Of course in your country that would take a lot of money and poor folks are left high and dry when it comes to getting help. This is a tough case for sure.

Yes, what Markeith did was horrible, however he is a product of his environment. As a big brother with no father and an absent mother became that of provider and protector to his siblings. He bared the burden and forsaken himself so that they didn’t have to. This is such a bid shame, someone with so much potential just didn’t have a mentor to guide him in times of crisis. This systemic problem is more than just saying he had choice a simply chose wrong. I hope all who suffered here find peace.

That along with the fact he had been kidnapped, stabbed in the heart, and robbed. He probably has PTSD.

Sad, altogether his mom had different fathers for her children, doesn’t make her a bad mom, overall I think she was a good mom, she was abused as well by first husband, therefore who are we to judge, her life she was traumatized as well, after all I really think Markeith was an overprotective sibling!!!!!

Is something else to this story cuz even though her daughter went in the house to get her gun she didn't have to come back out she could have called 911 and when the brother came out and told him to go back in the house you could have went back in the house and 911 is something else missing from the story and the mother got something to do with it if they would have did that when nobody never got killed and her mother really did not want her to have that baby they want her to get abortion it is some more to the story somebody lying,

You know I really disagree with the prosecution trying to downplay the impact of Loyd's sibling's statements here. They have an important story to tell. Let them tell it and let the jury make of it what they will. This is literally life and death. It means so very much to both the victim's family (who will have their say) and his family. Why are the prosecution so keen to push so hard for death? Obviously I don't believe in the death penalty but it is a moral choice for each juror individually and they need to hear all of this.
