If having 3 different lovers a day isn't an obsession, please tell me what is. No women's body can continually have multiple different lovers continually a day pumping their fluid and essence into your body, without it affecting you. That is toxic, and overdoing it, since your body, mind, spirit is overwhelmed. I just feel most of these actresses were groomed as children by older men and women, who were also groomed. If it was so a part of what happens in other parts of the world why do they hide it if it's the normal way of things. I don't know if Marlene D had cervical cancer but it's possible. I have heard about women who were repeatedly raped, and sex workers developing cervical cancer. Maybe it's due to a virus from so many different partners.
Marlene's eyes have always captivated me. Not the color, but her heavy-lidded gaze. She looked like she knew your secrets without you telling her and had plenty of her own.

Many STDs and STIs in women that go untreated turn into cervical cancer. Cervical cancer can also be caused by HPVs. So it makes sense since condoms were uncommon in those days and many STDs show no symptoms until it is too late.
HPV is what causes pretty much all cervical cancer. Having another STI, or even smoking can put you at an increased risk for developing HPV, but that STI was not the cause of the HPV.
Fascinating profile of Marlene Dietrich. Loved her lust for life. Her honest embrace of her bisexuality was unusual. Marlene Dietrich never divorced her husband. The father's mistress helped to raise their daughter whenever she was out filming a movie. Once she was done with the movie, she would come home and the mistress had to move back into her own room. She was also the nanny that helped take care of her daughter. Their relationship was opened. They just had to show up in public together once in awhile. But, yes, they had an open relationship. The mistress got pregnant and Marlena Dietrich paid for the abortion. It broke the mistresses heart because she wanted children with Marlena's husband. She stuck it out to the end. Her daughter ended up having to take care of both of her parent's while they were both in the hospital but were in different areas. I felt sad that she was an only child.

Not judging MD lifestyle but when u mentioned the cervical cancer and actresses of Hollywood often having it, I believe that goes back to HPV. 95% of cervical cancer can be traced back to HPV. Having a hypersexual lifestyle where many of the same stars were all in bed together can really spread these unfortunate viruses easily. However MD was a fashion icon, a beautiful entertainer and a real glam queen. A really unique and beautiful lady. It's unfortunate her daughter seemed to not have the best experience being raised by her. I've read many other unflattering things she had stated about her mother. My heart breaks for her daughter bc clearly she didn't receive the kind of care she needed💔. Money and advantages don't always make fir a happy home. Its like they say... "all that glitters is not gold"

There’s a definite link between cervical cancer and many different lovers. The AMA published a study stating that fact. I didn’t know Marlene was a survivor of the disease but when you said it I immediately thought of the promiscuity that was her trademark. (I suppose it can be Google to search the link between many lovers and cervical cancer.)

Incontinence, regular exposure to bloodstream to toxins from waste leading to illness, high risk for hemorrhoids, cancer, and prolapse, etc. There are serious gut and intestinal illnesses that are almost exclusive to those who indulge in this. Hi Amanda, I'm in my late sixties and when I was a lil girl and throughout my life, no matter if it was radio, tv or movies, her was Always pronounced Marlena, never Marlene. I am not at all being critical of Karine. This was a wonderful piece of work, Karine. There was a lot of info in a short time and all of the photos so gorgeous and dramatic; and the clothes, just fabulous. I kinda think maybe Karine enjoyed them too. @@roxannetoth5026 Pronunciation seems to be an on going issue for this channel. I am your age. We grew up hearing these names spoken. Being younger, or speaking another language is not an excuse, if you are researching the past you can hear the name said correctly in film clips etc.. You have to make an effort to check yourself. It lends credibility to your presentation in the end.

There was always an uncomfortableness with her acting that was disorienting to me. Did she deny her daughter an education ... any education at all? If so that is dreadful and neglectful! I didn't know she was an infamous catholic. I find that our country's idolatry of movie stars is embarrassing. When I find out that celebrities scorn their fans in any way I stop watching them...there might have been star struck fans who watched her get special treatment at the airports, banks, theatres where she was catered to. Celebrities must beware of thinking that they are superior to the regular person that idolizes them ... because, in truth, they are not! They are just the "flavor of the moment" soon to be forgotten.

I noticed that in many of the photographs Marlene had a cigarette, which some studies correlate with cervical cancer. The study entitled "Multiple Sex Partners as a Potential Risk Factor fo Cervical Cancer: A Meta-analysis of Epidemiological Studies" suggests that having multiple sexual partners, with or without HPV infection, is an increased risk factor for cervical cancer.
She probably had HPV during that time, you know how A like to create lab diseases. The difference between now and then the foods didn't have the toxins, which probably suppressed the HPV because of the lack of toxins in food during her generation. Were, as today with so much air pollution, processed food, and the toxin in food today, the diseases are rapidly being more visible. That generation had a healthier lifestyle. Their food came from farms, and they had fewer grocery stores.

Marlene told her daughter to write a biography about her after she passed. She wanted her daughter to beat all the biographers out there because she trusted her daughter and didn't trust anybody else. I read the book and thought it was very well written.

While this was a fun time for the daughter, it was more frustrating for Dietrich. After Von Sternberg tried to explain the rules/goals of the game, Dietrich asked him 'Why don't they give each player his OWN ball? Then we could all go home!' LOL
But according to her daughter “sex was something she did as fast as possible to get it over with”. She probably utilized it more for career purposes and the mystique of Dietrich.

One of my women friends, who happened to be performing in Europe, met Marlene Dietrich and was invited to join her after the performance. My friend knew of her reputation, so she didn't take her up on her invitation. When my friend was young she was stunning with blond hair and long legs, not to mention a beautiful voice.

My great uncle John erkkilla was a flamboyant Finnish gay man from Utah . He was said to have been a close friend of hers. An elite group of bisexual close friends in Las Vegas after parties is where they were said to have met. He drew a penciled sketch of her and was absolutely gorgeous! we found out that he knew her personally by my grandmother recollection….as she seemed to nonchalantly dismiss anymore inquiries. My grandmother knew Marlene was bisexual admitted her brother knew her and would sometimes go to Las Vegas dressed to the 9 for the shows….but she would never mention or indulge the idea he was gay or bisexual. That must have been a difficult time back then hiding who you are to everyone….she was a legend in her time and so brave! I’d like to know more about her last Vegas years it seemed so glamorous in the roaring twenties.
She was older when she did her shows in Las Vegas. LV is the last place you can perform when the major studios would no longer employ a woman of a certain age. It was at this time in her life that she started drinking a lot. The last fall that ended her career was caused by alcohol. Her daughter said that after that last fall and after fixing her up, Marlena Dietrich became bedridden. She was still very healthy but she drank on a daily basis and that caused other deadly physical disorders like kidney failure.
