She was a work of art such beauty, she even kept her her beautiful looks all through her 70s . Very few women could achieve this and that's with modern surgery
The mystery of her face is in her ability to both reveal and hide herself within her face. She is always both more that we are experiencing and less than what we want to experience. This is a type of still photography acting that very few master [Garbo is the other great master of this technique].
Yes, it’s still photography acting, even in motion pictures she kept her highly contrived and cultivated lighting, and barely moved. The discipline is is incredibly difficult. Also she wore a ton of highly manipulative makeup in contouring etc. But the mysterious structure was always there.
She was the over-the-top beauty, elegance and glamor. I am reading the book "Marlene, A Memoir of Marlene Dietrich". Her life was so fascinating that I want to know more about her. Thank you so much for sharing this a beautiful production.
Mind blowing!!! Marlene was so beautiful, sexy, sultry and Confident!!! What an an amazing talent!! I love her so very much and am so happy to have the privilege of hearing her music on you tube!!! Love you always Marlene!!😘
I saw one of her last shows in Paris when she was so old she had the beginnings of the dowager's hump, but she was still able to "strike a pose" that momentarily brought out the face in her old studio photographs. She had genius as regards her theatrical "art."
I am reminded of that line from "Sunset Boulevard" where Norma Desmond laments the decline of the new Hollywood compared to the Old Hollywood she knew:"They had faces, then!".
Amazing! I just can't get enough of Marlene! I'm ready to look at her all the time and at her incredible eyes with big eyelids! Thank you, Vika! Gorgeous!
I have always loved Marlene. Her glamour was over the top, surreal, dangerous, androgynous and unforgetable. Look her up in the role of Concha Perez in "The Devil is a Woman".
La Dietrich es la actriz de rostro más fascinante de todos los tiempos. Es una actriz con una personalidad única. La más dominante en toda la historia del cine. La más enigmática que ha existido jamás.
greatest high quality photos - you can see every little part of her face, amazing close-ups that give us opportunity to enjoy her beauty. you did a great job dear!!
Too young to be my lady but she will always be my idol. A close and worthy American friend gave me her postal address to her apartment in Paris. He assured me that she would reply which I have since verified to be true. This was in the 1980's. I did not believe him,....What a fool!!!....I would love to have her autograph but this sadly is unlikely.....I would have loved to have met her just once or her daughter of whom I purchased her wonderful book.
In her scene where she is supposed to be giving money to David Bowie "the Gigolo" I wouldn't have needed to be paid to be embraced by such a magnificent enchantress.
ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE ¡¡¡ ADORO A MARLENE ...no se que ocurre `pero siento algo muy poderoso al verla ... , i dont know what happens but i feel someting inside ---POWERFULL when i see her ¡¡
An example of a gal who knew how to make the most of what she had. Her special talent: creating the image of an exotic fantasy woman who was mostly mystery. She may have been the best that ever was at that. The work she did entertaining Allied troops near the front in WW2 Europe showed a person of greater depth, however, and became her greatest legacy. Professionally, Garbo was a different brand of the same product. Both sold really well, but Marlene kept it up much longer as a public figure. Her daughter's interviews about her are fascinating.
I always liked Marlene...beautiful and intelligent, good actress. His fascinating face was, in part, the work of Josef von Stenberg. Stenberg had her wisdom teeth remuved, that's why her cheeks were sunken; he remuved her natural eyebrows and drew her those mysterious arches. Stenberg drew her lips out of the natural line; most importantly, Stenberg drew a silver or white line on his nose; we always see her snub nose but her nose was long, like that of Gloria Swanson. In her films, photo sessions or shows, always kept a light on his face, with a 45 degree tilt.
her her her Her nose definitely did not ever look like like a snub nose, and the eyebrows were unfortunate not mysterious but closer to the fashion of the time
Marlene could not understand...that her beloved BERLIN. Was gone.....gone. like my father he came from Russia. And Berlin was gone...he died young....Marlene had to sing for the troups...suvival...something....how grievous....i can only.imagine.....no more war...ukraine??
To me, Marlene Dietrich is the epitomy of femininity. I am a woman, and my heart just fills with deep emotion when I see her face and hear her low, warm voice with its utterly feminine intonations, in Lili Marlene.
I think the reason her face is so uniquely beautiful is that she has a combination of intensely masculine (the bone structure, even her slightly larger nose) and intensely feminine (those huge eyes and delicate lips) features. But part of her appeal is how she always carried herself, the confidence and charisma exuding from within, and I would argue that her face plays a great, but still a second violin to that.
So nice to see natural beauty without the artificial lips (trout-pout). She had the discipline, brains and beauty to make it as an actress, singer, one-woman show. Amazing.
Dietrich is my favorite movie star of all times. She was so beautiful, but some of it was manufactured by lighting and movement. For instance, She had a short neck. You probably never noticed it because they hid it. Those beautiful pictures with upward lighting she did have been attempted but never mastered. They just can't compare.
- In former times, there are " only " Photography in Black & White. - Without " correcturring the Photos - Without correcturing her face with operations. Of course, the Make up- Artist had made his/her job and also the light team. BUT : LATEST at the Close - Ups, all little fault would have be seen. I don't see ANYONE OF THEM. AND : Her fascinating eyes aren't able to lie . An ageless an hyonotic BEAUTYNESS ! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
