How can I tell if the rifle is a 336W? I have an old 336 that was inherited that I i am wanting to ugrade with this setup. Contacted ruger, and they have no info on my serial number as it was prior to them purchasing marlin. My guess is the rifle was manufactured in the 70s, if not earlier. Any help is appreciated, very new to lever actions.

When he says 336 w does he mean Winchester or waffle top? I have a new Ruger made Marlin 336 and ordered the RPP handguard for it. Hope it fits like yours
