With the marriage of Balea Targaryen to Aly of Hull, ot was clear to the hand, Tyland Lannister, that Rhaena, her twin sister was better suited to be the heir of King Aegon iii. When it came to the marriage of Rhanea Targaryen, they had learned their lesson, this time the princess would help choose her own match. While the man she picked was hardly perfect, it was a compromise that the hand and regency council were willing to accept.
The Dance Of The Dragons will be the focus of the plot of the new HBO spin-off House Of The Dragon coming in 2022. So if you want to learn the story before we see HBO's take on it then this will be a very long-running series. Game Of Thrones / House of the dragon are HBO shows based on George R R Martin's A Song Of Ice And Fire series. The information in this video comes from the books a world of ice and fire as well as fire and blood.

Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen was trapped on Dragonstone by her brother King Aegon ii with no way to escape her fate. What was to come was the final showdown between the two main players of the dance of the dragons and bring the war into its final phase. The House of the dragon was crumbling and the events that was about to follow would only cause more damage to both sides of the war.

i believe this is the last video i recored while i was still ill so my voice might still be a bit off in this one. Right now three videos a week seems to be manageable so that's the plan going forward. I'm also considering doing some shorts for the days i don't upload. But not sure if there is really demand for that kind of content so gonna think on that for a bit. I have a special video in the works to mark passing 25k subs, i still can't comprehend that number of people but i'm very grateful for all your support over the 10 weeks house of the dragon was on, and of course over the last nearly 4 years.

In hindsight, it seems very suspicious that the only dragonrider left in Westeros married a Hightower, thereby putting the last healthy dragon in Westeros under Targaryan control in proximity to the manipulations of the Maesters.

It seems like Baela and Rhaena both had PTSD and coped with it in different ways. In Rhaena's case, it seems like she became more subservient and obedient, possibly because she might have believed that Rhaeyna's defying the rules led to death and devastation. A real life example could be how Prince William and Harry coped with Diana's death differently. William became even more obedient and loyal to the establishment while Harry became more wild and reckless.

I’ll never understand why she chose to marry a Hightower. After the mess with Alicent and her father. A Targaryen marrying another Hightower under the flag of peace and reconciliation is just wrong.

@@WorldOfWesteros if anything she should have just married her brother Aegon. Considering the royal family just consisted of himself and his sisters at the time prior Viserys return. They're not in a position to be marrying into other houses. Alloying their Valyrian blood played a part in the further decline of the dragons til the last died

Because 'the Hightowers' aren't evil, not wholesale. Sure, there are some shitty people in the house and they've got strong ties to the Faith and the Citadel, but they aren't a universal group. Plus, by the end of the Dance, basically the only living Hightowers were children, and similar to Aegon's prophecy (in the show) I doubt the children would've been in on any plan to usurp the Targaryens. Additionally, after Jaehaera's death, a new alliance between Oldtown and the Iron Throne would've been astute politically, and useful in bringing the realm back together again.

@@madambutterfly1997 Well, maybe they wanted to heal the rift between the Targaryens and one of, if not THE oldest reigning house in the Realm. The Hightowers have some rather legendary origins, do they not? And Oldtown rivals King's Landing as a major Westerosi City. Actually, if not the whole realm, at least all the major houses of the Reach have the Hightowers as a crucial part of their history, unless I'm remembering the Lore wrote And honeslty, it's not even the Hightowers fault the Dance of Dragons happened either. The Targaryens have themselves to blame, Viserys in particular, and Rhaenyra didn't make her already precarious position any better with her "situation" in regards to Harwin Strong and Laenor.

@@WorldOfWesteros I'd say it was to make peace with the House that had many of its Targaryen members killed off by the Black's, to mend the rift between the Targaryens and one of the most prominent major houses.

I would love to see background videos on characters from the Dance of the Dragons. Characters like "Bloody" Ben Blackwood, Roddy the "Ruin",etc. As always,your videos are fantastic.
