Contour and Freq, are reverse parametric equalizer So, the CONTOUR scoops the, low mid, mid and High mid. But FREQ knob select the frequenci of CONTOUR will scoop. If you set Contour zero, this both knobs don't act
THANK YOU! for stating so concisely the purpose, cause, and result of these very important adjustments on the Jackhammer. This pedal and its cousin, the Gov'nor are excellent pedals when set up correctly as per these finer points and your rig. See detailed vids by Dave Simpson, who goes into great detail with both pedals and often performs live with them. Dave's advice is to use the Treble and Bass sparingly, if at all, and mainly use the Contour and Freq. IMHO - These pedals have often received a bad "pile on" type criticism on the internet because of being misunderstood, and folks not taking the time testing and/ or researching. Seems like people either love or mistakenly hate them in all the reviews, videos, and comments I've seen. Definitely sounds a lot better with the counter and frequency fully disabled. That controller kills all mid range and makes the guitar sound terrible. The mid range is probably the most importante frequency on a guitar. But the pedal is probably quite good if you use it in a pedal platform.
