I'm 57 years old and I've always been disappointed with my rice technique. It's almost like mashed potato consistency. I tried Martha's method exactly and realized that rice grains are individual! So happy. Delicious result just like Asian restaurant rice. Thanks Martha. You're an American treasure.

Did you use long or short grain rice? Thank you in advance.

I wish Martha Stewart living was still on so she can take us on a culturally enriching field trip to New York’s China town and explain to us how to select different spices and ingredients from Asia to enhance our everyday home culinary experience.

Rice water is great for plants. If you let rice water ferment for 48 hours, is great for hair.

I always add 1 cap full of organic cider vinegar to the water. It helps soften up the rice. You can't taste it unless you add more vinegar to the water which I do sometimes because I like that little vin. kcik. Plus Org. cider v. is very good for you and I'm one of the few who loves the taste. But again, you can't taste it if it's like 1 cap full.

Also if you want to cook for whole family better use rice cooker. Usually one cup of rice and one cup of water to cook it perfectly. Some modern rice cooker also can make porridge and other type of rice like basmathi as long as portion of water is correct proportion to amount of rice you use.

Ill still cook my rice the way my ancestors have been doing for centuries. We don't need no measuring cup either. But maybe someday I'll do it the way Americans do but not sure why I need more cholesterol

Due to arsenic content, most cooking sources today are recommending cooking rice like pasta, in excess water. Then dumping out the excess water and a majority of the arsenic with it.

That is correct. Arsenic is naturally in the ground water in Oklahoma and Texas, found out getting a well put in! It's organic and natural. Remember that when your see this words on products!
