Martin Lewis explains why the energy price cap is broken 

The only moral solution is for private companies to speculate and "dig" ;i.e. labour for energy, on their own dime and compete with each other (no government intervention). Let them set whatever prices they can in order to attract competing private suppliers (administrators). Additionally non-government intervention also means to stop penalizing fossil fuels to which energy companies can maximize profits, re-invest and compete effectively. Not only would this result in market led prices, but all other industries would be more competitive and consumers would all be in a far better position. What I'm suggesting results in competition, not monopoly. And by monopoly I mean coercive monopolies. Coercive monopolies can only exist with government intervention. No industry could run a coercive monopoly in a free market. The market would destroy them. This is counter-intuitive to what is told to us.

Dear Martin you should see how SSE have treated me . I was on credit meter for electric I am on UC . I was on fixed two year contract when I switched over to prepayment 8 months ago I spoke to SSE on phone as regards the switch over I said it won't affect my two year contract I was told o no no that will be fine . Of late I have just found out that SSE double my unit rate to 34 pence per kilowatt and double my standing charge . It's a disgusting way to treat me I am on UC and in the limited capabilities to work group . I feel like I have been scammed because in the small print of contract it says it will end if you change to prepayment. And I ask them that question at the point of switch over so you see I have been mislead by them at a great cost to me . I can't get through to them I have asked them to ring me by email . I have had no contact . I really feel let down by them and the government. It's so not fair. SSE have conned me that's how I feel today .

Now its set to go up to 2800 madness
