Marty's band is the best off shoot of WA. I have seen Andy's band a few times, but Marty's band is pure WA.

"All Hail from Tehran IRAN !!! " I first heard Wishbone Ash through the Argus album back in 1980 when I was living in Nigeria. Their music gets around !

Hi steve.l myself have been bass for 45yrs now and for the last decade have been playing in a WA covers band.Its such a privilege to to be able to play such great bass lines.

Took me two hours of solid practice to get the Sometimes world bass line right. I was mortified when I saw him play it AND sing at the time.

Andy's band makes new music

I wouldn't agree that Andy's band is a 'cover band' considering that he alone kept the W.A legacy burning (with original music) throughout the many years when Martin was out of the scene. I agree that his band lacks the vocal character of classic Ash during Martin's tenure however, Martin's voice is shot these days anyway. I'd even argue that Andy's voice is holding up a lot better than Martin's.

I wish I had bought the bookmyself when it was available at around £25. Even more so after watching this interview (though some of the things I hoped to learn about arnt there - hence the wish for the book. Great watch and listen anyway

Thanks for your kind comments Adel. The producer was Derek Lawrence, who produced both Deep Purple's and Wishbone Ash's first three albums. He managed to get Wishbone Ash their record deal with MCA records in America in 1970. Martin Birch was the engineer for the first three Wishbone Ash albums and all of the Deep Purple albums from 1969 to 1977, and then producer for many Iron Maiden albums. It was Ritchie Blackmore who recommended Wishbone Ash to Derek Lawrence when Ash supported Purple in early 1970. Don't know about Camel supporting Wishbone Ash. Perhaps you mean Hammersmith Odeon and not Hammersmith University, which they first played at in 1976. In 1972 the only London venues they played at were the Rainbow Theatre and the Roundhouse.

@@markchattertonsrockfiles7104 My pleasure Sir Yeah I know full well that there are two Venues at LON Hammersmith Odeon and Apollo, but in a book published during 2000s in IRAN the author mentioned Camel 1ST MAJOR GIG WAS AT HAMMERSMITH UNI/COLLEGE" thats why I wonder !! cos I knew full well that there arent any venue in this name at London (Although, unfortunately, I have not traveled to London yet : )
