Maruti Suzuki's Brezza has had a killer recipe for a sub-4 metre SUV. The waiting list is long and Maruti is planning on making it longer! For 2018 the Brezza has been updated with one big change. This change is under the hood - no, it isn't a petrol engine - it is an automatic "AMT" transmission with the 1.3 DDIS diesel engine. This is the first DDIS 200 engine to get an AMT, all the previous AMT's were with the DDIS190 version. Will this combination work? Is this a Brezza that you should skip? How do u think it will perform on roads of Manali when going from Delhi would u recommend it. Or would u suggest one should go for manual variant. Will be using it in city like Delhi most of the time but would also like to take it for drives to Shimla Manali etc...

How is Amt brezza like to drive in the hill sections. I tour a lot in the hills but doesn't like the lag i I face in my ciaz. Also own chevy sail which is miles ahead in terms of drivability.

Hey Kartikeya, Very nice review, have seen a lot of vieos of urs, always a delight. The point you made here about the fuel efficiency, does it hold true in case f lighter Dzire also, i am looking to buy Dzire VDI AMT. Buying diesel only for the higher fuel efficiency, if it lags in that department, i will be opting the manual, let me know.. Cheers.

Nice review! I am waiting for its Petrol AMT version. It may take a couple more years for Maruti to introduce it to the market. Lets hope price will be bit lower than its diesel counterparts.

Have taken several test drives, was quite stable on bad roads and a breeze on good roads. Fantastic compact SUV. Booking mine tomorrow. Very excited 🙂

well, still far inferior to something like a Duster or Ecosport or Nexon A pile of plastics and a stupid turbo laggy motor thats overtly noisy post 2500 rpm and a ride thats harsh yet dosent give better control and feels CHEAP for a CHEAP price

Ponygt 662 well, if you don't like brezza, just don't bother, it is doing terrific . You can buy the others, they are struggling for survival anyways. I have tried all those which you mentioned. Ecosport looks old, nexon is a indica on steroids, duster too looks old and jaded design. I have lived in France (renault is french) no one buys duster there . I have test driven all of these and none of them are perfect. felt brezza quite stable on really bad roads and smooth as butter on the good ones.

Arun K P amt will always be less efficient than cvt or dsg or mannual due to gear shifts on rpm

AMT with diesel engines seems to work quite well these days.. First Nexon now Brezza... nexon still is a better choice hands down but tata after sale is pathetic.. Maruti suzuki isn't that good either but more number of service station and easy parts availability is still a plus. I loved brezza but I wish It was available in petrol. I really feel sad when I see black smoke coming out of diesel engines exhaust. Harming environment for saving few bucks is being selfish for our future generations.

@@ponygt6629 Will it work on diesel ? Ecosport have not no diesel automatic. Diesel manual clutch is ok-medium hard. Both these "craps" Vitara & Nexon have 4 and 5 star safety rating and more space inside. Ecosport is good, but not worth the price. Its like a taller Polo

Brezza AMT Its lacking Hill hold or Hill start assist which is important for city n uphill drive.... so I am facing issues like vehicle going down when we stop n move on steep .... in bumper to bumper traffic we have no other choice than using hand break.

Well will never agree with this review, just test drove the car last week and it had lot of head knob, the car rolled back on inclines, the engine becomes too noisy post 2500 rpm, felt cheap inside like a big wide Wagon R, and fuel efficiency I got in Chennai traffic was around 12 kmpl in MID and highway was around 18 kmpl with 2 people on board. cant believe this crap is selling like 12-15k units per month, Heck even a petrol CVT Duster 1.6 petrol felt more predictable and smoother to drive , and the best automatic in this group by far is the Ecosport petrol, if anyone had to compare the AMT vs CVT vs TC AT AMT =6/10 CVT = 7/10 TC AT = 8/10 Still too bad and yet this much sales, too much brand power from Maruti it seems, not the quality or ability of product.

Sandeep Shenoy I have seen many accidents in real life. Hyderabad is full of them. And many have seen the Tata nexon roll over video. I seen one live. All 4 passengers were absolutely fine. The rear glasses were shattered and a Vitara brezza accident where the complete front was damaged incl. Headlamp grille and fog lamp and the owner was carrying the bumper in his hand . It just hit an light pole . And nothing on ecosport. Tx. Edit:Your views

Smita Mohapatra in bangalore, i saw a ecosport hit a barricade and was severely dented and damaged. Unless same impact is used, the build quality cannot be judged. One of my colleagues nexon was damaged too when it was hit by a two wheeler on the rear door. Unless you use the same parameters, it cannot be judged.

sinan hassan that’s tough. But the edge will go to the Creta because of the better suspension - comfort. Also - unless you pick the ags brezza - the Creta is better for city driving too. Let me know if we can help in any other way.

Creta 1.6 is more premium and has more powerful and refined engine. But not to forget the price difference between top models of both the cars can accommodate another car. I recently bought Brezza zdi+ and no complaints yet. Best way to decide would be take extensive test drive of both the cars one after other, you will get the answer.

The s-cross now feels almost non-sensical in comparison to brezza. Only thing that it has over brezza is that solid build quality. Sad, as it lost its biggest differentiator: that sweet 1.6 diesel.

Rahul kumar nope. The S-Cross is bigger and offers better comfort for 5. And it also has better ride comfort. In fact I like the 1.3 with SHVS quite a bit. Great for city use. Just my opinion though.

Are you talking about Sunroof? In Indian weather conditions, sunroof is not useful. That's why it is not commonly available with Indian cars.
