Be sure to post your favorite aspect to play with Gambit and what cards drive you there by Midnight MST on 3/21/23 to be entered in the contest to win a Gambit hero pack!
I haven’t gotten to play Gambit yet, but perfect protection builds are my favorite so that might be a fun route. Cards like Not Today! & Hard to Ignore will make up for his weak Thwart. He might also have nice synergy with Leading Blow
Awesome guide! Thanks for the video! In true solo I played Gambit with justice and he is very versatile. Then, in 2 handed, I made it a tank: 4 def with armored vest, judoka skill and several defense cards. He can defend twice, take no damage so he remove 3 menaces, draw a card and inflict one damage.
Played my first game of Gambit the other night, played leadership. Woah boy, it was awesome! Leadership works so well because he likes to sit in alter ego and use all those alter ego X-Men cards (weapon x, mansion, education, etc...) while allies can deal with attack and extra thwart. Then every once in awhile you can pop up to hero and do a big attack before flipping back down.
Justice! Being able to pair him with some shield cards and making it even easier to hang out in alter ego and then flip into hero form and do some major damage.
Gambit in Aggression is just so much fun and he has so many options. Melee, Precision Strike, One By One, Clobber, and Into The Fray all working very well with his charge counters and his just naturally powerful kit and generic X-Men cards.
Protections because with energy barriers, forcefield generator and others I have a crap ton of counters everywhere and can justify my burger tokens purchase.
Looking forward to aggression Gambit, but the card I’m most interested in playing is the basic Ready to Rumble. He has such a fun looking alter ego ability, and with RtR there will be fewer “I want to use it, but also want to be ready in hero form” turns.
I think War Room may open up the space for a very well rounded ally-assisted Aggression deck. Gambit driving attack events up should also mean he can race super well. Having done the testing much in TTS yet, but playing it reminded me of my first times running Ironheart at version 3.
Man gambit looks a ton of fun! And I would have to pick aggression, doing a massive damage is always a ton a fun and helpful also that Royale flush card seems really sick!
I haven't paid Gambit yet, but would go with aggression; seeing how Counter Attack could count to add the charge counters to it. If an enemy hit for 7+, defend for some of it, and then hit back with at least 3 charge counters to hit for 10+. I'd also use Fusillade by exhausting Gambit's staff and use some charge counters to boost that 5 attack. I was hoping Mean Swing would work with the charge counters, but it's based on basic attack. It seems like Gambit could be a big hitter in Hero form, and a decent thwarter in Alter-ego.
