0:00 Marvels Original MCU Plan
1:07 Breakdown Of The Origins Of Marvel Studios And Kevin Feige's Plan, Marvel's Bankruptcy, The ToyBiz Merger, The Character Sell Off and more Explained
7:58 Competition and Outro
Ok so The Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to close off phase 4 with the release of Wakanda Forever later this year. The studio is unmatched in it's cohesiveness and though many have tried to imitate it, none have matched it' Even the studio that's in second place still hasn't come close to pulling off what Kevin Feige has accomplished and so many of them have struggled to even get out the gate with their shared universe plans.
Though it seems almost perfect in it's design, the original plan for the MCU was a lot different and I thought we'd ask What If Feige had've gone with his original vision. Throughout this video we're gonna be going over what the universe was originally meant to look like, the characters in it and also the storylines that we would've got.
So come with us watcher as we break it all down amd discuss what was originally supposed to happen. If you enjoy the video then please hit the thumbs up button and also don't forget to subscribe cos I'll love you 3000. We've also just launched a clips channel that is about to hit 2000 subscribers and I'd really appreciate it if you guys checked that out.
I'll leave that as the pinned comment and with that out the way Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show, I'm your host Paul aka your friendly neighbourhood Spoiler-man, now lets get into the breakdown.
Now in order to discuss the full plan we have to talk about how hard up that Marvel were in the 90s as it massively effects the way that the plan was laid out. Marvel Studios started up in the 90s and it mainly worked as a part of it's parent company that dealt with licences. This involved the office selling off major characters to other studios so that the company could keep afloat. I'm sure you've heard the story about how they had to sell office equipment to other places just to keep the lights on and they had truly fallen from greatness.
In this time they lost the film rights to Spider-man, The X-men, Fantastic Four, Hulk and all their flagship characters.

The Power Pack are superpowers younger kids, and was more realatable to me we I was a younger child. There not like the child sidekicks or anything, the silly childlish superheroes sitcoms - this stuff was edgy! They were 4 siblings that got powers from a alien humanoid horse, so they could recuse their parents for some other aliens. There was a boy who has super strength and could fly, another that could turn into gas and shrik too; can't remember was the older girl did, maybe invisibility or fire powers I think. By the young was like 5 or something and had energy blasting out of her tummy. I'm going try and find their old digital comics and go down memory lane.

Having X-Men and Fantastic Four from the start would take too much of the attention from the build-up to the Avengers. I believe that not having their heavy hitters from the start definitely made Feige have to think outside the box to come up with a lineup. Thankfully Iron Man, Thor and Black Widow rights returned for Phase 1 as it allowed for our version of the MCU.

Yes, they had successes with the three Sam Raimi Spiderman films and the X-Men films. Such a cool video. Thanks for this. I didn’t know about all of this. I do think things would have worked out but RDJ as Iron Man was a stroke of genius by John Favreau. You know what’s really funny is that over at WB/Discovery they have this dilemma over what to do to restart/rebuild and Ezra Miller has clearly gone into panic mode to try and salvage his career. I think his people are telling him you could be the next RDJ if you get cleaned up and compel them to go with you as the Flash moving forward (and of course release the movie that’s almost ready). I’m not sure if he has actually hit bottom yet and we might actually see more issues with him. RDJ was ready to turn his life around and was doing it. He didn’t care about Iron Man or an MCU. He had turned his life around and this is something that came to him as a result of his new found sobriety. This whole thing with the MCU has been such a cool ride, I’m looking forward to the next several years but I’m also truly hoping the DC universe can get going and keep it going, I hope they find that lynch pin. I don’t think it’s Ezra Miller as the Flash

Great video. This shows that bankruptcy doesn't mean the end of a company. Hopefully this gives DC more hope. It took Marvel two decades just to get their rights back and develop a successful franchise. DC only flopped for 5 years and was the face of comic films for two decades back in the 80s, 90s and part of the 2000s. A comeback is inevitable.

Definitely made them think about things differently...how to be more proactive based on audience feedback. We have gotten spoiled a little bit on that though which I think has created some of the nitpicking now.

@@sleinadb Oh definitely! I'm just hoping for a day where both companies are thriving. I may be more of a DC fan but both companies gave me a home for my superhero love. Us comic fans were bullied for way too long from others to have it where we attack each other in this comic community. Hopefully these companies will see that eventually.

They still need to kick Issac Perlmutter and Avi Arad out of Marvel completely.

Interesting, but pretty happy with the way it turned out. It's crazy to think what could have been if they retained the rights to all of their characters from the beginning.

Ok I am holding out for a Power Pack Movie!! They were a great bridge between kids in comics in the 80's They'd be hanging with The x-factor , then Franklin Richards, maybe pop up in new mutants for an issue or two .

Phase 4 has perhaps been the most underwhelming but it's probably due to stratospheric expectations after Endgame and the loss of the main characters.

What Kevin Feige also did was he released the films in the pattern how comic books are released... When a superhero is introduced in the comics, they are given individual editions or issues before putting them in an issue featuring an ensemble cast. The point is to allow readers to appreciate the individual characters first above all. Feige repeated this formula of releasing comic books with the MCU films. I think this was also the key to the success of Feige’s vision and MCU.

I always wonder what it would have been liked if the early 2000 Marvel films were linked Wolverine was meant to be in Spider-Man The semi sequel Spider-Man show had the same King Pin actor as the Afleck Daredevil movie aswell as the Spider-Man games and Morbius was cut from Blade.

I have been curious if someone would do a video with all the comic con and d23 announcements and plans as opposed to what we actually got...and compare. This came pretty close. Did that say Captain America Serpent Society...where Winter Soldier ended up? That's what I'm talking about. They already changed Agatha's show title, too.

Would they have been able to make the caliber movies without the Disney buy out in 2009. . . don't know but being able to have one of the biggest corporations in the world standing over you helped. And it is starting to show with this phase 4 being lackluster at best. The Netflix shows also helped keep people interested due to the adult nature. They buy the right people whereas the WB paid for the biggest idea Marvel is an amazing studio, but they became very formulaic and have tried to over correct at some points (Eternals I'm looking at you). The only films that can compete with them are from the DC animated universe, one company owns live action the other animated realistically both studios are amazing at one thing with nuggets of greatness from both on occasion.
