I’m glad you reviewed this thoroughly and spoke the Truth!! For a machine that is nearly to the $1,000 dollar mark I expect perfection to be honest. Nice machine! Congrats 🎉 brother!
I've heard the stock button 'switches' tend to feel LESS than pro/commercial quality on many of these units? I just can't believe these guys can get away with charging over $500 for these shrunken cabinets, and then SKIMP on providing QUALITY buttons/switches/joysticks? I was lucky enough to find an old dead 'commercial' arcade cabinet (with a 2 stick/6 button each configuration) that I gutted and converted into MAME. Luckily the original joysticks were both still in GREAT shape though, which is lucky, because even the 'expensive' sticks I've got from arcade component places just feel FLIMSY compared to the sticks on the 'real' cabinet.
congrats man, i'm really wanting this cab as well (btw amazing collection). I will try to hold it as much as i can because like you , already have a dreamcast and a CRT that i bought last year because i thought MvC2 cab would never happen, Mister FPGA for the arcade games, and a ps3 with the HD version. I really need to see this online before i commit. I'm really glad you enjoy yourself mate.
Nice dedication Evan. I've been a Street Fighter ii fan since I was a kid. Recently bought myself an arcade cab from a local guy who used service and lease cabinets in my city back in the 80s, 90s and 00s.
Congrats on the MVC2 pickup. Enjoyed seeing all those Marvel/Capcom collection u have and all looks in great condition. A true fan! I just recently got the X-Men Vs Street Fighter cab w/riser from a local marketplace neighborhood pick up for $200 in great condition. I have MVC2 on my Dreamcast and wish I can get the arcade 1up version but I’m out of space😢 since I also have the Capcom Legacy Street Fighter II edition in my mancave gameroom🕹️.
My friend had Sega Saturn with all the imported Capcom games and my group of friends played 100s of hours playing xmen vs street fighter and marvel vs street fighter. Sega Saturn was so much fun and the Saturn controller was so good. But when Dreamcast came out mvc2 we played so damn much.. i feel you about being a Capcom fanboy you got a great collection.
The saturn versions of those fighters were arcade perfect, I played the PS1 versions 😭which had horrible animation and load times lol. This cab is awesome for sure.
Nice! I’m jealous in a good way! I always wanted to order those Japanese games from those mags back in the day but was broke. I have some now great collection. 👏 🏆
Damn, that’s when you know somebody’s a true fan when they import Japanese games just to play it days ahead of everyone. Had no i dea part 2 was ever out on PS3. Sad that it is a download voucher and not a disc. Thanks for the cabinet review, if this ever goes on sale that’s how I will get it. I can’t seem to pay $600 for this. I rather pay $300 and get a Dreamcast with a copy of MvsC2 ;)
Nice , i want one but my rooms not big enough to fit itand i have too much ps4 junk and ps2 stuff in my room and multiple baskets of clothes , wishes to you
I'm not satisfied with mine. I think I have blotches of ink around the "2" on the Marquee artwork. I didn't notice until it lit up. I hear static during the level loading screen. I already had a bit of lag while playing against the computer. It froze for a split second. That's never happened on any arcade or console. I'm not a fan of the buttons or joystick. They're mushy. The Arcade 1up screen protector was dusty as heck even inside. I had to take off and clean it. But some wouldn't come off. I noticed a few tiny scratches that already came on the screen protector. And no, I didn't scratch it. My Simpsons screen protector also came with little scratches and even a tiny hole. For $600 should do a better job with quality control. I don't believe it was damaged during shipping. It looked well protected when I opened it. I'll mod the joystick and buttons and hopefully they update it and fix the game play/ sound issues. I'll have to live with the rest 😮💨
That sucks other people I know are having sound and slow down issues to they think that it's over heating mine might not be having trouble because I have it in a cold basement unless some just cane defective off the line
What 'software' do these units run anyway? Are they essentially 'MAME' systems loaded with licensed OFFICIAL GAME ROMS running on some sort of custom PC Computer? Or do they use some other unique form of emulation?
It's really sad that this cab ended up being such a disaster. I personally didn't care about this cab at all, but so many hard working people spent their money on this thing and it was so anticipated by many. Will A1Up learn and change their ways?... Absolutely not!
My retail mvc2 arcade1up box is still heavy, I ended up buying a used big blue machine and throwing the mvc2 pcb into the unit making a Big Blue MVC2 cab. I have a custom marquee, side art and monitor bezel art on the way to complete my transformation
I pre ordered my mvc2 at Best Buy on September 8, literally seconds after it went live. Now I finally got my shipment and to be delivered on oct 17. Can’t believe you just ordered yours and already got it. But regardless congrats on getting the cab.
@@grouchygamer2404 just got mine yesterday. And I’m about 3/4 way finish. I messed up on the stand for the joystick and have to take the whole side panel off again.
Ps3 version of MVC2 is easily the best to play simply cause of the widescreen support while keeping the aspect ration and ps3 controller being way better than Dreamcast controller for fighting games.
Surprised you didn't have pick up a Happ style arcade stick in the early 2000s. Like those MAS sticks with DC/PS2 compatibility. Full american arcade experience. CPS2 on Mister is amazing btw. If it doesn't have happ controls should be easy to upgrade
To get all chars for the Dreamcast MvC2 Japan Version -> u need the Nexus Memorycard.... So i got all chars back in the year 2000, without the need to unlock via Japan-Arcades..... 😉
I'm confused 😕 did ps3 have a game disk? How much was it going for? Is it on ebay...I have marvel vs capcom2 on ps3 but I bought it from Playstation network digitally... love it,I haven't seen it anymore on playstation network? I like to get the Xbox version since I have an original xbox.
No dreamcast plays better I noticed some air combos would switch sides and not connect where I never had that problem on dreamcast. The graphics om this cab though blow the dreamcast out of the water
Best buy delayed mine a bit too but it came a few days later. but ups beat the hell outta my box too. but their pre order process pissed me off. and they ended up having it in stock and i ordered it again so i can get at least one to show up and they canceled my second order.
I kinda get the perfect score in the Saturn X-Men game yes it was a inferior port but the arcade machine wasn't easy to find I only find one and was like 5 years after the release. So for some people the Saturn port was the only way they experienced the game.
Oh Evan...you put this up and didn't fight anyone online...lol jk now you have no reason to not join the Marvel tournaments and get busy. I expect to see you there. Also, isn't that my copy of MvC2 for the Xbox? Lmbo jk good job man but next time more review, less rant
I just bought mine, to me $600 price tag is a little steep BUT in fairness the opportunity to play other MVC2 players ONLINE is worth it. I look forward to getting mine. I got one from best buys official ebay page but now they took the page down and Im hoping they didnt cancel my order or anything 🥳 I bought this solely for the online play this is gonna be a massive revival
So there’s official stores that do operate on eBay , they would typically have the logo of the store next to the listing so you know you’re buying from a superstore like Best Buy. Man I’m tryna figure out if they are still doing preorders or something they definitely don’t got this in stores yet so this may be wave 2 of preorders , god I love marvel though every cent was worth it
It's easy to replace the buttons with real 30" convex Sanwa buttons. You just need to shave these 4 tiny notches off the sides of the Sanwas and they fit snug in the control panel. You don't need a step drill like some people show in videos that's overkill. Kongs-R-Us has videos on how to replace the stick and buttons.
I wonder how much 1up saves on production costs by using 'generic' buttons rather than 'official' Sanwa components? For $500+ it seems almost inexcusable to cheap out on the CONTROLS, and I'm surprised customers are so accepting?!?! I had considered converting old arcade machines and selling them like ten years ago, but I just didn't think there was enough of a market with people willing to spend ~$500 even on 3/4 size units!
@@StreetPreacherr I've never had to negotiate a deal like that. I'm not sure if 1Up could buy directly from Sanwa or if Sanwa would require a licensing agreement from 1Up to be associated with Sanwa. I have no idea but a small cost, as production scales, can become significant. Maybe the margin on buying in bulk from Sanwa isn't great? Again, I'm speculating.
Finally someone that actually knows how to do Air Combos and not just with the same character. Unlike all these fraudulent RU-vidrs that just buy it and can’t play it to save their life and just want views🤦♂️🤣. Great video, excellent trip down memory lane with OG games. A salute🫡 to the real hardcore OG players that play it cause they love the VS series and not just for views✌️.
@@itsmeevan At least you got the Air Combos and it shows you have experience with dedication. I’m tired of watching these frauds on RU-vid that only do SUPERS and tap the same BUTTONS 🔴🟢🔵 thinking they know how to play🤦♂️🤣
@@weaponx8108 LOL finally someone said it!! I was checking out some of the arcade1up mvc2 reviews here in YT because I noticed some lag with the sound from pressing the button to the execution, but can't seem to justify cause people were just sort of mushing the buttons and not executing any decent combos! I'm hoping to find someone who'll play Magneto doing an infinite or at least Ironman using this cab.
@@j_wolf7190 The buttons aren’t a issue it’s their lack of skill. It just blows my mind that people spent $600+ bucks on something that they really can’t play. They just want views and remove peoples comments when people expose them for telling the truth. Cooltoy, Shelion, kongsrus, and many more. It’s a long list. I’m just stating a fact🤷♂️
That marquee art isn't pixelated (not saying that as an uhm actually), it's from an atrociously compressed image ... I could make a better one ... and I'm awful.
@@itsmeevan I'm saying that even if it were a high resolution image, if it's compressed you'll see that has quality issues that you're pointing at there ... I mean ... yes, it's likely low resolution, but the problems aren't with the resolution, they're with the quality of the image. The edges aren't bad, but the makeup of the colours and suchlike are terrible. Think of it like bitrate on music or video files ... there's just bad information in key parts of the image there.
