I’m just here to say that Marx literally wished for the power to rule Popstar, and Kirby bested that power, which means that Kirby is more than capable of ruling Popstar himself and he chooses to live a humble life, what a guy
I disagree. Because Kirby lives on Pop Star. If Marx had the power to rule Pop Star it would mean he has to be stronger than Kirby. The more likely explanation is that Nova was simply incapable of granting Marx's wish, and instead just gave all the power it was capable of giving. This means Kirby is stronger than Nova, but not much else Kirby is definitely strong enough to rule the universe though. He just doesn't wanna
Marx wished for power to rule POPSTAR not the universe. Still counts that Kirby can indeed rule Popstar. Still not even the biggest power threat he has faced.
“When your 7 years old and have the rock ability whilst fighting Marx and have no idea what to do because your at a one-hit ko state and your stuck in your rock form tryna not get hit but the second you get out of rock form you will die song”
I recall beating him ONCE without the Rock, I think I killed him with either Hammer or Sword. Marx was one bitch of a boss to best when I first played the game.
I mean yeah that was me once or I just plugged in the other controller and only fought him with player two xc when bonkers died, id yeet the stone ability at him then quickly go into stone again
It really speaks volumes about Kirby when he doesn't give a fuck about Marx Soul's hellish scream, in direct contrast to the player's absolute horror to it. _Kirby never shows fear._
CupheadFan13 My headcanon for Marx Soul is that after the initial fight with Kirby, the timeline splits. In one timeline, he returns in star allies to fight with Kirby. In the other, Marx Soul is formed and fights Kirby once more.
This comment reminded me of Wambu's April Fools video about the most hated video game characters. Me and my family love that video and we quote "I'm pissed!" all the time.
Interesting little thing I noticed about Marx Soul: When he's down past half health, the battlefield changes, mainly the background. It starts off dark and murky in the beginning, but gets more vibrant, twisted, and animated when Marx speeds up and gets chaotic. It's as if Marx's increasing power and instability actually contorts the environment around him.
I've done a little fact-check because I never noticed it myself, but from some footage it seems to be happening when he's hit under 1/3rd hp, not half. Cool fact though, it's been years since I last played KSSU.
The Tree has fallen. The Twins have been separated. The Clouds have flown away. The Blimp has crashed The Servants have failed The Great King has been dethroned. The Guardian has been felled. The Warrior has been locked away. And now... The Tribulations of the Insane Jester begin...
I think the scariest part about Marx is that he’s not insane, or even really evil, rather it’s implied he’s still a kid, not much older than Kirby actually. In Ultra, his dialogue changes from “Now, I can do anything!” to, “Now, I can cause all the *mischief* I want!” Implying that he views things as more of a game or a prank than a genuine means of ruling Popstar. In fact, several other forms of Kirby media like the books and twitter art confirms this. In the books, he and Kirby are friends, and they enjoy playing pranks on others implying he’s either a child or has a VERY childlike mentality. The whole reason he’s doing this? Because of the same reason most kids like to pull pranks or do anything really mischievous. “It’s Fun” and “Because He can” This can be applied to his actual fight as well, as much as people say he is… he’s one of the goofiest, cuddliest looking bosses in the Kirby series. Rainbow wings with hearts on them, Puppydog eyes, and a barrage of silly faces that look more similar to well known memes than anything all that horrifying (You can’t look as his face when he uses his Mega Laser and not be reminded of the popular Shoop-Da-Whoop meme). And even his Worm Hole attack ends with Kirby getting pelted by bright yellow stars. This is where the horror comes in. After Kirby deals the last hit, Marx recoils right into Nova. This presumably kills him. Especially considering besides the remake, he never showed up in another mainline game again, and even in spinoffs his appearances were very rare. It wasn’t until Star Allies that he was confirmed alive and “Somewhat” reformed. I say somewhat because in the JP version of the game, it states that he still wants to try his original plan of taking over Popstar. Worst part is he can anytime he wants without Kirby’s help now. Now that he’s show to use the powers Nova gave him the first time, and Meta Knightmare, while non-canon shows us that Nova technically can’t die. When Meta Knight collects the wishing stars, he revives Nova. This is supported by one of Nova’s eyes not working, and his animation for being summoned is different than the one used in Milky Way wishes, as it’s his Death animation in reverse. So if Marx wanted to, he could gather up the stars and resummon Nova any time he feels like it. Also speaking of Nova it clearly misheard Marx because it was about to crash into Popstar and Kill everyone (How or WHY would Marx want to rule a planet with no life left on it?) proving just how dangerous and faulting the Clockwork Stars truly are. Speaking of Nova AGAIN. In the non-canon true arena Marx actually does die, but Nova, determined to make Marx’s wish come true sacrifices itself to revive Marx. This is when Marx actually gets pretty disturbing. His skin is now a rotting purple as opposed to the soothing lavender he usually has. His laugh is now a distorted, low pitched, deranged cackle as opposed to his jittery chipmunk-like giggle from before. Marx is also one of the few bosses that *bleeds* in his fight. When he uses his worm hole now, acidic, insect-like blood is shown before it snaps in half. His eyes are not only red, but cat-like in design. His colorful wings are now red, and the multicolored hexagons that make them now flash grey, red and blue. Granted he does still have some… unthreatening attacks? Like raining paint from the sky. But that only reminds you that Marx is still a child. One forced to fight his friend in a mindless, zombie like state, yet he still shows signs of playfulness. His death here is even worse. Not only does he let out a blood curdling shriek, but if you take notice *Marx is still smiling as his body splits in half* Thankfully, this fight wasn’t canon and Marx would get a happy ending. It’s just quite sad to know that he can very much be described as Kirby’s version or Porky from the mother series (although he’s far worse than Marx is) As for the popular theory that Marx only did it because he was hungry, that seems to be more of a joke (Gooey’s descriptions do this too where they basically state he’s one of the more intelligent beings on Popstar because his blank state is actually just incredibly deep thought). Mainly it seems to be a reference to the gremlins films above all else.
One thing, Galactic Nova didn't give Marx his wings and power, pause screens in Ultra state that he was revealing his true form. He could always do this.
if they were to end up remaking Kirby Super Star AGAIN (which note: will never happen) they would HAVE to give Marx Soul his own version of Marx's theme
_Meanwhile, Back at Nintendo_ Game Freak: So, what will be the plot for the next Pokemon Game? Nintendo: I dont know... Game Freak: Cmon, atleast a good plot? Nintendo: * shrugs lightly * HAL:. * bursts in with a copy of Kirby Super Star Ultra * HAL: I HAVE AN IDEA! _And thus, the next plot had the Sun and Moon fight, again._
Marx: THE SUN AND MOON ARE FIGHTING AGAIN! Kirby: * glares at Marx and tosses two pokeballs at Lunala and Solgeleo * Marx: * insert ear splitting scream *
alexander simonsen Galactic Knight, was hard, but Marx Soul, he’s as hard as trying to a back flip, easy with experience, but hard when you’re trying to do it first try
I remember when I finally got past Galacta Knight in the True Arena, and I had used stone to get through there because I was just too woeful in terms of skill to use anything else at the time; but anyways, I got to Marx Soul and had absolutely no idea what to do, and he had cut down my health to next to nothing, but I had also got him down to low health too. And that's the point where he starts going really crazy with his attacking. So I sat in stone and waited for an opportunity to attack - but it never came. I waited so long there in purgatory, unable to move out of my stone knowing I'd die from the next hit, but I could never tell what he was doing so I just had to sit there and keep waiting or else risk having to start all over from the beginning. Eventually, I did come out of stone and beat him...after almost a full hour. My time was 56 minutes and something seconds. Nothing in life ever got my heart pounding as much as it did then after that day.
Daniel Vinas no Kirby’s adventure actually introduced it it was called boss endurance so that’s wrong also there are many games like this Dreamland 2, Dreamland 3, superstar, kirby 64, nightmare in dreamland, amazing mirror, squeak squad, mass attack, I think canvas curse (I haven’t played that game), then superstar ultra
Uh, William, they’re talking about the “True arena” where there are typically harder bosses. In SSU the main ones were Masked Dedede, Galactica Knight, and Wam Bam Jewel, the final bosses for Ultra’s exclusive modes (Revenge of the king, Meta Knightmare ultra and Helper to hero respectively). The true Final boss for Super Star Ultra is Marx Soul. TL:DR, Arena was in earlier entries, The True Arena debuted in Super Star Ultra.
Actually, Masked Dedede introduces you to the "True" part of the "True Arena". I got my ass handed in a silver plate by the Final Four more times that I can count. (Little fun fact: I've never lost to Wham Bam Jewel. It's either Masked Dedede or Galacta Knight the ones who get me) I eventually got past the True Arena, but I'm still scarred by that. That, and the Planet Robobot True Arena. I could go on for about two paragraphs on how much I hate Planet Robobot's True Arena.
DJ Floyd Too bad it's already a pain in the arse to get to him in the first place. It's always freaking Galacta Knight who screws me over before getting to Marx!
Somebody else came up with a theory that Marx was actually just possessed by something, probably Dark Matter, hence why he helps Kirby in Star Allies. Maybe Marx Soul's whole death scene is just a more dramatic version of what happens every time Kirby knocks the sh*t out of King Dedede when he's possessed.
marx soul: hey kirby, wanna hear the most loudest thing ever? kirby: no nonoNONO marx soul: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHAHAAHRGH kirby: dam it marx
Let’s have a warm welcome for Marx when he comes back in Star Allies. He was my very first Kirby villain! Edit : Come Smash bros, he’s tricked us again lol Who else loves how intense 0:48-1:02 is? It really brings home the fact that this is the last fight, and you’ve almost won.
Montanachief The Second Wait a minute, how was he your first Kirby villain?! You can only find him in the minigame Milky Way Wishes in Kirby super star/Kirby super star ultra, and it's the last one you unlock!
@@LeonardoCollywell2004 he was my first Kirby final boss too, with Kirby Super Star Ultra being my first Kirby game, I ended up, after that, really appreciating Marx, which now he is one of, if not, my favorite character the entire series has used in its lifespan
I dunno if anyone actually noticed but, in the galactic nova cutscene when Marx turns into the boss he is, his soul form actually flashes for a brief moment which is cool
This was my second Kirby game after Squeak Squad, and Marx was the villain who taught me that, Dark Nebula notwithstanding, Kirby villains don’t screw around.
Kirby: MARX, I WILL DEFEAT YOU Marx: i will do a scream Marx: *_WAAAAAEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH_* Kirby: Dead
i like how its implying that kirby just says "dead" u could have put kirby then dies for eardrum busting but kirby, after all this legit just says "dead"
Marx:"IF IM GOING DOWN IM TAKING YOUR EARS WITH ME!" Kirby:"OH GOD MARX PLEASE NO!" Marx:"REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" Kirby:"I have gone deaf...."
All these comments about marx and his screech gave me a thought. Where are kirby's ears? Does kirby even have ears??? Also I'm surprised nobody has said it already but *CHAOS CHAOS*
Oh god... I remember the horror of facing this Marx when I was like... 10-11 years old... It was insanely hard, but I still remember the happiness and satisfaction I felt when I beat that psychotic clown-thing.
Jeez, this boss was VERY hard when I was younger. I probably retried on this fight a thousand times. When I played this game, I never gave up, and never got pissed, and I don’t know why. It’s probably the music that made me determined to finish the game 100% (which I did).
I wonder how the cutscene would have played if Meta Knight were in Kirby's place. I imagine Marx just flat out FAILING to push the incredible motherfvcker aside and then Meta would have the absolute BALLS to summon Galacta anyway
Kirby: *does 1+ hours worth of work to stop the sun & moon from fighting* Marx: *does the bad* Also Marx: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGAHSHAHJHAJDH Kirby: *brutally throws Marx into nova* game ended
Dimentio: *destroy all existing worlds and create perfect new ones in his image via the power of the chaos heart* Jevil: *aware that everything in his existence is a lie, and goes full psychopath knowing nothing is real anyway* Marx: Where's my sandwich
With Forgotten Land most likely ending the Soul bosses, it's fun to look back on the Soul that started it all. It's crazy how Marx didn't get a remix, yet somehow the theme still works for his even more crazed undead soul. Guess you can't perfect perfection.
I don’t think anyone agrees with me, but I’m actually not scared of Marx Soul at all. Not even that evil laugh. However, I must say something about the scream at the end of the boss battle: R.I.P. headphone users... But then again, I didn’t actually play this game because I didn’t have a DS or DSi. I actually think he looks kinda cool.
Marx Soul was the hardest mfing boss of my childhood. Took me like a month straight of trying to finally beat him. I was on the top of the world that day.
Good job. did the scream solid your victory because you had headphones on max like me? Yea put a damp in my victory after blowing my ears out. Oh also my first try was me chasing him trying to land the up hammer attack for a full hour and a half and died to his beam.
Although in retrospect marx soul wasn't actually too hard, it was still a great way to have a "true final boss" and i love how soul bosses are still present in kirby games since. not to mention marx soul is fucking nightmare fuel.
I like how this fight was FORESHADOWED in ultra and regular the cutscene before the NOVA fight where Marx turns into the evil Marx for a SPLIT SECOND you can see Marx look like Marx Soul without the wing appendages... Foreshadowing!
Yes and Nova trying to be the wish planet (I forgot it's name) wannabe Dude I can't beat this boss *chucks 3ds at wall* *beats the boss * Oh boi time to throw things
Okay gonna be legit honest, when I first beat Marx Soul, I knew his final death scream is indeed a sign I've truly mastered Kirby in this game. But also, god damn.
I remember I got to the last boss of The True Arena, and I was trying to figure out who it was, and then that cutscene played and I was straight FLABBERGASTED when I saw it was Marx.
If there's one thing I love about Marx, it's just the sheer absurd VARIETY of his attacks. You've got spitting ice bombs, thorny vines, barrages of spears that would make Bandanna Dee proud, black holes, shoop-da-whoops, turning into a storm of paint balls... and if we count Smash Bros, growing horrifying bug eye disco balls and dark soulless voids. It is, frankly, complete and utter chaos, and I'm sure that's what they're going for.
Here's a small theory about Marx and the Mirror ability. Not even close to being confirmed but I'm just saying it. Marx and Mirror Kirby have the exact same hat, and can both split apart. I'm thinking that Marx actually created the Mirror Ability. You only see the copy ability in KSS, KSSU, and KPR. In KSS and KSSU, Marx is in it (obviously) but it never came back until KPR, but with a new design. So I'm thinking the Mirror Ability was restored by Haltmann's company. That's just my theory. It's by no means confirmed at all.
