I know Allison was being sarcastic about Elizabeth Olsen being part of the Marvel Movies, but watching this and how the twins seem to just neglect her makes the plot to Wandavision that much more meta since she ends up creating a whole sitcom universe where eventually they create a Full House world.
@@ZehnWaters yes, but identifying features like lips/teeth, nose, and eyes tend to stay relatively the same even when one or two of those features were modified in some way.
5:38 - Well, I don't think their *parents* buy them anything they want. It's probably money due to their "entertainment" work. I know it probably doesn't change the fact that someone probably goes out and gets them whatever. But that has to be weird for a kid to realize that they are the actual breadwinner, and success or failure hinges on them. I think the Olson's can't comment on giving; not because they can get whatever they want, but because the people in their lives have only taken from them for as long as they can remember. It's never been an option for them. It's just been their lives. The Olson's have always seemed kind of dead inside. I'd be dead inside too, if that were my existence.
"umm actually, to be fair, i looked at imdb and i don't get sarcasm~" honestly, it can be really awkward and sad watching these and seeing how unhappy mary-kate and ashley are, but the commentary always makes it worth it 😂
Not gonna lie, "To Grandmother's House We Go" was a Christmas staple when I was growing up and I loved it. But looking at it as an adult, it's disturbing as fuck: Two little girls try to travel by themselves to their grandmother's and get kidnapped and held for ransom . . . and it's played up as a cutesy holiday movie for the whole family? What?!
Merry Christmas, Allison and Phelan. Thank you for all the entertainment you two provide us with all year. I hope next year will be better for everyone.
To Grandmother's house we go was my favorite christmas thing when I was like 4 or 5. It did not age well over those two decades. I'm am deeply ashamed.
That is the only movie of theirs that I vaguely remember at all. Even with how badly dated this movie is, it is still better than much of their later works.
That adorable basset hound is officially the greatest thing to ever appear in anything associated with the Olsen twins, narrowly beating out the flamboyant theater kid from Full House. :)
I love it when y'all review the MK & A movies. also I think it's funny when people say the twins are nobodies now. They're high profile fashion designers so I'd say they're doing just fine :P
I only just found your channel and it was the Mary Kate and Ashley 1st episode... I was thinking "this was my childhood and I need more!!!" And thank. God. You did two more.
Harv and Shirl MAKE To Grandmother's House We Go!! Him having so much fun playing with Sarah and Julie at the pizza place and wishing they'd had their own family was always my favorite part:) Even as a kid I knew everything that was going on in it and always felt proud of myself for never doing any of it;)
I did a bit of research, since this isn't the first time I've seen something like this, and it turns out that the spin-the-wheel thing really is how the California state lottery was done back in the day, gameshow and all.
I kept doing a double take every time you said Ben Cozie because that’s the same name of the dead security guard “twitcher” in the fountain of the mall in Zack Snyder’s Dawn of The Dead. So apparently DotD takes place in the MK & A Olson universe, The same universe where there is a tropical island in Lake Michigan the survivors escape to at the end
I would watch the shit out a movie that's just Godzilla 214, but instead of the MUTOs it's the Olsen twins, and they just follow Elizabeth Olsen's character everywhere and screech "BUTT OUT!" at her.
Yeah I remember the last episode from Full House. That was almost the only episode I watched and I wondered how they made the girl who fell from the horse interact with herself. (I did not know they were twins) Was Full House also the serie in which they played overly emotional music and had the camera zoom in every time they wanted to have a serious moment? That was probably so 90s sitcom, but I disliked it because it was so over done.
As a kid I would watch this like it was going out of style. I also wanted a twin. It’s embarrassing how I remember the songs word for word 😂😂 love watching you guys!
Grandmothers house we go, This is filmed in my city, Vancouver BC. I knew because of the shape of the mountains in the background and the little pamphlet holder on the bus.
It’s always a party with you guys 🥳😊 The only reason I’m AWARE of these girls is because two of a kind used to rerun on Pop girl 😅 also I think I have one of those books of theirs🤔
I used to have a friend freaking obsessed with these movies, so I saw them all and forgot about them in like a year. the only one that really stands out in memory was the halloween one, for reasons I don't recall.
I always find it ever so funny every time I think about the fact that nowadays the tables have turned: the twins are nothing and the other sister is the big star now. Merry christmas Allison, and once again to Phelan.
Never saw much of the Olsen twins TV and movie stuff so only heard of them second hand for the most part but holy shit lupa is right, I feel sorry for them now granted they didn't want for anything you could get with money but I feel like you can tell early on already they don't do it because they enjoy it, but rather likely because they were pressured into doing it.
I like the whole theory that Phelous put forth in the Sea World one... That the detective stuff is all just in their head and theirs alone. Which means that these party "movies" is the "higher tier" universe and thus "more real". Who knew Mary Kate and Ashley had such a deep and complicated mythos.
omfg the cookie song was my absolute favorite, the only problem was hearing it always made me hungry for actual cookies when there were no cookies around
I think I owned a few of these movies when I was young-- one of the mystery series and one of the party. I don't remember being OBSESSED with the Olsen Twins (I never watched "Full House" or anything), but I did definitely BEG for a Mary-Kate Barbie and watched my movies more than once. But yeah, seeing you go over these just makes me feel awful for these kids. How many of these movies did they have to pump out? They probably never got to have a REAL party with REAL friends--or even solve any REAL make-believe mysteries--as kids because they were so busy having to sing hackneyed songs about cookies. Poor things. ):
i'm sure you've suffered enough but the feature-length movies they did later have a lot of good material for videos too - Passport to Paris, Our Lips Are Sealed, Holiday in the Sun.
What ever happened to the 'It Takes Two' review..? It was mentioned (for December) on the 'How the West was Fun' review, but that's at least 2+years old... I'd still love to see that! Just saying
From the moment I locked eyes with Phelans' Thousand-Yard Stare, I knew that he went too far out this time... and while he was physically unscathed, a part of him would never come back. Damn it Olsens, how much pain can this man take? What do want from him, BLOOD?!
I haven't watched your last 2 or 3 Movie Nights reviews because I am saving them for Christmas :) But did you acknowledge that the "Who's Your Caddy?" review was, correct me if I'm wrong, your 50th Movie Nights review video?
omg I know it might be treading dead ground at this point but I'd love to see a review of Billboard Dad (the worst of the single-parent-gets-love-interest-via-twin-girls movies), Passport to Paris (wherein they don't hook up their parents but their nerdy guardian and a supermodel) or Our Lips Are Sealed (something about witness protection????????)
