For real. I feel like this could have been really awesome if they'd kept it more focused on the "buddy cop with dinosaur" idea and cut out all the bullshit. Especially for someone like myself who adores pretty much all things dinosaurs, this could have been really enjoyable. I'm disappointed by the wasted potential. So often movie creators have interesting premises but completely fuck it all up, and it's so frustrating.

Theory: The Dinosaurs sitcom and Theodore Rex take place in the same universe, hence explaining why the dinosaurs are already evolved and anthropomorphic despite only recently being restored. Hey, it makes more sense than anything the movie actually did.

Come to think of it, the cops in the show were grossly incompetent too.

Don't feel bad for him, he's 90 years young, enjoying life, and just paints expressionist pictures now. Years ago, he said that he didn't care about any of the movies he was in at all, except for eight or ten of them - the ones that he considers to be really, really good and that are near and dear to his heart. I have a feeling, this one is not on that short list.

From near where my late Mom was born, seven years younger, seems quite a fascinating actor. Definitely wasted in this movie.

Check out 'My Girlfriend is a T-Rex'. It's more or less what you described.

Considering this likely came to be because of the Dinosaurs sitcom and I understand some of the effects types for that show also brought that into this movie.... You get inconsistent crap like that.

Probably green lit it since the sitcom was pretty good.

You know...there's a manga called 'My Girlfriend is a T-Rex' that handwaves something like this in the first page and it makes more sense than this. In about two panels, the comic explained that dinosaurs realized that the world was changing around them even back in the era where they technically were still alive and evolved along side humans and as time went on, even their bodies started to evolve where they gained humanoid features for certain things while retaining their original dinosaur features for others. And depending on the species, they all have their own specific cultures and rituals. So it makes sense only because dinosaurs never went extinct and had time to adapt and humans were used to it because we evolved side-by-side with them. It wasn't something that was instantaneous like this movie makes it seem like. Also there are no stupid powers or anything like that. The only 'abilities' the dinosaurs have are whatever their own species was known to have originally. A GAG manga did a better job at explaining how anthrro-dinos worked better than this.

@@Quandry1 I guess they missed the gag of the series because what made Dinosaurs work was because it was dinosaurs who acted like humans from the 90s. They didn't need humans in it because the dinosaurs technically were the humans.
