Tokyo Reggie (1976) [04:13] Masayoshi Takanaka Included in his first solo album "SEYCHELLES" released on July 1, 1976 Lyrics by Yukihiro Takahashi (ex-SMB, YMO) Composed Arranged by Masayoshi Takanaka (ex-SMB, FE) (English translation of the rough meaning of the lyrics) I feel the summer season coming again A melody I've heard before is flowing on the wind my heart starts to beat It’s as if the time when our dreams will come true is just around the corner. I feel the sunlight reflecting off my eyelids I'm in a daze, on my seat I hear a melody in my ears From far away and it passes me by I open my dim eyes and look up at you in the driver's seat next to me The song of the sea, coming from somewhere in my ears. A sad fact that's both the CD and vinyl lp copy are too hard or too expensive buy I dont know about the cassette version If it available I might hop in
@@upwaveflash8429 It's just a best of collection, you can get every song by grabbing the other, much more widely available albums. But for completions sake, I do wish this one was more available.
"...Imagine parachuting out of a plane and then, all of a sudden, you spot this guy floating right next to you. You don't remember him being on the plane with you, but he gives you a thumbs up and a big smile, so it's alright. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, he produces an LP and hands it over to you. As he disappears from your eyesight, you look at the cover and realize it's exactly what you've seen just a second ago."
Takanaka frequents a couple of streezy bars in my mountain town (which is antithetical to his whole ocean vibes, ik lol) but anytime I see him, he’s quietly drinking alone and he has a bohemian dusty look going on.
Which one, the compilation album or his debut Seychelles? But totally agree, I've become a little obsessed recently and am trying to find and listen to EVERY Takanaka album from 76-2009 which was his last album I belive. Some are pretty hard to find on here so I don't know where I'll look next but I'm determined to find them all. I think there's like 24 albums total around there. (Not counting compilations, re-recordings or live)
@@locustboy8448 same! He has a massive discography its honestly kind of daunting. And if I had to pick I would probably go off of the compilation album, that's the one that I'm most familiar with and I think it's really quite good
@Acornwellian For sure I think he/whoever picked out the best tracks from his pre 1979 work pretty much picked the exact tracks I would. All hits no filler on it. Have you been able to find anything after Aquaplanet online in song per song format? Aquaplanet is here on RU-vid on playlist form but basically everything after that I haven't found on here.
You managed to convey the emotions when we look at the album cover and listen to what's inside! Excellent!! I'm saving this in my playlist to cheer me up! Hello from France (;
bro omg thank god i wasn’t the only one that thought this song would make a wonderful music video. You did such an amazing job capturing Masayoshi’s chill vibes with ur excellent animation. Also the part with Masayoshi giving his album to a fellow skydiver… ugh absolutely incredible!!
The fact that this is so underated makes me *angry* 😤..... I mean why aren't there that many people who love Mr. Masayoshi Takanaka and he's style of music? I think its awesome!
I've been depressed and empty the past few weeks/ months i don't even know how long. Life is just grey and I barely feel emotion these days. This wonderful animation somehow touched me I almost teared up. Thank you for letting me feel human again :).
This is so incredible!!!!!!! I absolutely love everything about this, you really outdid yourself with this one. It all ties together so wonderfully to create something genuinely incredible, AMAZING job friend
"Imagine sky-diving, and then this dude (who wasn't on the plane with you) just descends next to you and passes you a record, smiling all the way, then gives you a thumbs up and parachutes away, over the ocean." At least give credit to the comment you got this idea from.
Thank you so much for this amazing animation, I got chills watching this, and a tearring up a bit. Legit one of if not my favourite song ever , you captured it so well. Thank you!!
thank you so much!!! this comment is so nice i really appreciate it :) i have another music video in a similar style coming out in a few weeks, stay tuned!
@Acornwellian omg yes I subscribed ! I can't wait! I really love Masayoshi Takanaka and he is so niche, so such a beautiful and cute fanart animation just warms my heart for days !!
i dont listen to masayoshi takanaka alot but my brother showed me this masterpiece and i think im gonna go listen to some of his songs now. thank you acorn
The combination of the animation and also the godsent music of Mr. Masayoshi Takanaka just made me cry, litteraly. Somehow this combination just radiates optimism and makes me smile while also making me feel nostalgic for some reason. Thankyou for uploading!
Summer may be winding down, but now I know where to find one little slice of it any time of year... I am in LOVE with your art style! Keep up the good work!
this looks so sick! smooth animation and fluid movement, i like the glow effect it gives off anime like vibe actually, I've been looking through the internet for a while on how to do that effect, if you dont mind let me know how did that cheers :)
the program I used for editing this was davinci resolve, and they have an effect you can apply to any video called "gaussian blur" which gives you the blurry effect pretty easily! And its not unique to that program; you can find it pretty much everywhere
@@Acornwellian oooh, just a basic gaussian blur, lol that makes sense to me now, so you make 2 layers one for the gaussian blur and the other for the normal layer, you overlay it and tune down the opacity to around 15% ish i might be wrong but thats who id imagine someone doing that effect, i use premiere pro btw
There's one small error in here: Takanaka's hair ain't supposed to be moving. When you look at the album cover for All Of Me, his hair is perfectly intact; not a thread out of line. Jokes aside, really good animation, and this one of my personal favorite songs from Masayoshi Takanaka.
