Wow, I thought it was the other way around, although it made sense AFTER READING THE DESCRIPTION and noticing that the Reverend described its tone as "traditional 50's". A seemed hotter, which is why I thought it was the Rev. So, yeah, apparently I did liked the Rev's sound more (which is why I thought THAT was the Tele), since it can be more, in my view, more versatile, more easily shaped into other thing. I assume the Pete Anderson's are slightly hotter and more scooped than the Trickshot's?
@MasonMusicRocks
@MasonMusicRocks 3 года назад
That’s a good catch- I definitely am drawn to the Reverend tone too. I’m not sure about the PA compared to the trickshot t-style pickups. I’ll have to do some more reading- we don’t have a Pete Anderson in stock at the moment.

Great demo, thats what reviews should look like. I wonder if you could still do some kind of Bill Frisell style vibrato on this guitar (movement of the neck while playing), since the 6 point neckplate and the roasted maple would theoretical work against that...

I will bet the reverend is A, with the warmer sound and the telecaster is B with the brighter, thinner sound. I'll bet, though, that if you roll the treble off a bit, you can get that same thin sound with the reverend, making it a bit more versatile.
@pseudonomous
@pseudonomous 5 лет назад
A bit surprised to learn I was wrong at the end. Too bad that Fender doesn't have a bass contour to let you get both that super thin sound and more warm, balanced sound, but it definitely sounds pretty good. I've got a telecaster with a similar traditional bridge + neck humbucker and some kind-of black magic five way switch that is one of my favorite sounding guitars of every guitar I've every played. Not really the most comfortable to play, but sounds awesome.
@MasonMusicRocks

I liked the sound of A a little more as it was a bit fuller. I was wondering if you had some of the bass rolled off using the bass contour whilst recording the Trickshot. I have a Reverend Kingbolt & Double Agent OG Anniversary and love the brand. I was thinking of a tele style guitar and there is the Trickshot and the Eastsider T. Do they sound different? I know the neck profiles are different.
@MasonMusicRocks

Andrew Reynolds I had the bass up all the way to try to make it as fair as possible. King bolt and DAOG! That’s a nice pair. This would definitely get you more twang in the mix. Two extra bolts on the neck are going to help it stay in tune better? ..... No.
@MasonMusicRocks
@MasonMusicRocks 5 лет назад
Perry Codes if the Reverend website is to believed, yes. From the website: “Two extra bolts increase mounting pressure of the neck by fifty percent. This makes a stronger neck connection, which improves sustain, tuning stability, and neck alignment.” I’m guessing the tuning stability is a lesser effect compared to the sustain and alignment though. I wonder if they’ve done any tests that prove it...
@jc6721
@jc6721 3 года назад
I'd be interested to see if anyone has modified a fender with 2 extra neck screws. I know people are doing the metal inserts mod in the neck for these same reasons but this might be easier. Drill two holes in a neck plate, 2 more 3/8 holes in a fender body and 2 more 1/8 holes in the neck. Drop in 2 more screws and see if it improves anything... could be a fun experiment with a cheap guitar.
@thomasmiller63
