And just so we are straight I would have smoked a Baldwin car as well. Unless they are sub 10 second cars, which I know they are not.

@@231mac There was an Isuzu P'up here in my city that had a 5.0 litre Ford in it. He sat a lot of guys down before it finally blew up. He probably had 20 bucks into it but proved you could go fast on short dough.

@John Matrix Nah, he's not. It's just a matter of taste, i like the standard front end but much prefer the split bumper RS. It's nice when we have choice!

I believe it, about 1974 I built a 67 Camaro RS Yenko clone, I found a 427/425 with a spun rod bearing, bought the body which had 456 gears and a 12 bolt, traction bars, etc. I got a good 4 speed and with a junk 780 Holley in ROUGH street tune it ran 12.7 at 109 with 25 inch slicks. i was only 19 then and worked at a gas station so i had no $$$$ but someone who raced more seriously said if i put a 800-850 double pumper and a Tarantula manifold i should easily get 12.4 or better. Motion L-88 was a stronger motor than what i had as it had a serious solid cam, 12.5 compression and a few other things. Mine had solids too but only 520 lift - lash so about .490 actual but a very smooth powerband and liveable idle. Considering the times of mid to high 14's that other cars ran at well under 100 mph back then i was happy with breaking into the 12's of course living with 456 gears isn't the easiest thing to do, try to stay off the highway as much as possiblePeople need to admit the new cars are superior, they idle like a pussycat and get almost 20 mpg all while being reliable and maintenance free they also have AMAZING top speed, something not available with 456 gears however seeing and driving a 67 RS with a 427 being so light the feeling is there. New SS is a TRUE 12 second car off the floor but yes without a doubt it doesn't have the charisma of a 67 RS with those mean llooking hideaway lights

Agreed Jim they Do especially the beloved charger the new Big block Camaros with that good 6 speed and I have seen them up close at a car show and the speedometer tells a tale and definitely earned their stripes as they can leave more than a few German and Japanese cars behind plus they can be modified to have the big and little combo of the cars of yore and I don't mean stretched out tires but real wide meats like for example a 18x8 front with 245/45R18 tires and 18 x10 with 295/40R18 rear Tires or those wide tires that fit the rear rim nicely but don't what size they are and have a 70's looking street machine and even painted in 70's street machine paint with the staggard look and I am starting to see this a lot with 80-2009 Ford Mustangs

Sounds like the engine was missing prior to transmission shifting. Perhaps spark scatter.

Cause they were junk, i had Indy Profile S/S tires, the Newer Drag Radials out today are 100 times better than the Indy Profiles, especially Mickey Thompson Pro Drag Radials.
