Thank you Very much!! I man pulling a 21,000 lb rig with my new 2022 F450 Lariat as we speak and am trying to figure out why my brake keep going out. The first time a few days ago I was on the on my way to San Diego from Goodyear, AZ. exactly what happens is it will say that everything is fine on the dash and then when you squeeze trailer brake it says " no trailer" or "trailer disconnected" if it weren't for the engine brake and downshifting myself and several others would have perished!!!!! I was looking at connections for trailer connector and neither had dielectric grease with major white buildup shorting the bumper 7 pin plug. Thanks again!!!!! LIFESAVER
2023 f350 I’m having the same problems. Dealer says the modules are on back order with no answer on delivery dates. Wonder who’s going to pay my truck payment since I use my vehicle to haul trailers for my income.
My 2015 Ford Expedition burnt out today. Literally smoke coming out of the console when I hooked up to my trailer. It engages trailer brakes and will not release them. Luckily I was in the parking lot and not driving when it happened
So i have a 2022 F-550 took it over for the software update, they said i already have it installed!! The truck will not stop with a trailer on, i read the owners manual and it says trailer brakes wont engage until 11mph is reached!! So if thats not bad enough the dealer was checking it and said theres a 5 second delay until the trailer brakes engage and something about they wont work at all if theres not 200 pound of pressure and the foot brake!!! Its horrible and unreal there going to end up killing someone over this stupid shit!!!!
Brought this recall up while checking on insulation recall for my 2022 F250. Parts have not come in for insulation recall and was told software upgrade is not available yet. Going to check with a couple other dealers in ,my area. Going camping next week!!
Ford has been trying to fix this software issue on my 22 Ford F450 for 3 months now. The truck computer will not let them in, they are having all kinds of issues trying to get it fixed and I pull a 15000 pound trailer. The Ford engineers are now trying to figure out whether it's the software at the Ford dealership or there's something further wrong inside my truck, meanwhile I did have my brake controller go out had to smash on the brakes.I do believe had I not been able to downshift and not had an exhaust break i would have hit someone. luckily the truck was able to stop the trailer I was pulling but it wasn't any fun.
I called the Ford dealer today. I have a 2021 F350 Build date March 31,2021. They checked the Ford database. They claimed this recall didn't apply. I have not received a Ford Pass app notification either. I am scratching my head why I have a 2021 that was built in 2022 build year. I suspect there is simple explanation but I am not finding it. Thanks for posting this valuable information.
Thanks for the video and information. I discovered the recall [two days ago] on the Ford Pass App. I have a 2022 F150 Power Boost. Called my purchasing dealership this morning [AutoNation Ford Littleton, CO] about it and to make an appointment to promptly get it done. Imagine my surprise/disgust/dismay when they acknowledged the recall and offered an appointment to fix it on July 18th ..... 😳 I declined their gracious appointment as we plan on being in Alaska with our camper right about then.... I suppose I need to approach another dealership shortly ...
Was at the dealer today telling him about the brake error messages that I had pop up this weekend. He put the messages into his system and it said there was a recall. Ford gave him 0.4 hours to reprogram the brake controller and do the paperwork. He did it while i waited.
Thank you still waiting to see about insulation recall. I looked and don't see any problem with that yet. I haven't had any other problems with my truck so far. I have a free oil change coming up hope to get it all taken care of at once. Mix up your videos I like the recall and how you use your truck aswell.
Hello I own a 2022 f150 Supercrew XLT 4X4 3.5 w/max trailering package I have had my truck in for 2 repairs, the first was the lighting control module, the second was this recall. My truck has 7,500 miles on it.
Great Video. I have an F-150 with a Ford Brake Controller that was purchased and installed in 2023. My issue is the same as legacyvet6168 below. "it will say that everything is fine on the dash and then when you squeeze trailer brake it says " no trailer" or "trailer disconnected"" Could a new brake controller installed to a 2015 truck have this issue?
Curious. I installed our brake controller after market and the dealer we bought the truck from installed the program for me... Probably safe to assume it is the same program now being recalled.. program was installed in Spring of 2021.
I'm in the same situation. And apparently because I installed the brake controller myself, Ford says the recall doesn't apply to my truck. But because it was programmed by a dealer in July 2021, I'm sure it has the defective software, and it seems that Ford may try to make me pay for the software update.
