Actually, you can get the pirate FRIGATES. Just fly close to them.

Diverting power to shields/engines/weapons is such a good move. It's a dynamic used in a bunch of space combat games and I love having that kind of situational control over your ship

The freighter battles are a lot more hectic now, as you have a time limit before the civilian freighter goes boom. To add to this, I found that there are two types of space battle, one with and one without the pirate dreadnought and pirate frigates. So can still claim your freighter. 😊

Awesome update! Hoping we get a space catastrophe or general catastrophes update. Something like partially destroyed planets, with the core and lava spewing out. Super novae happening from a distance, large tornadoes, tsunamis, etc..

I updated today and already ran into a pirate freighter attacking a civilian freighter. I was all WTH as huge lasers were blasting and missiles were flying. I had NO IDEA what to do. Very fun. This update already has good stuff.

Staff multi-tool opens up possible other new multi-tool forms for future. Like that sword multi-tool that is referenced in dialogue. But I'm hoping for something like a hammer/mace multi-tool and a whip multi-tool(so I can roleplay as Indiana Jones in space).

My advice is to take it easy. It's easy to get overwhelmed with the game, especially nowadays, however if you take each mission one at a time and follow the narrative closely the game becomes easier to follow along. If you don't pay attention, you can actually miss a lot of fun bits.

When I saw the info about the staff it reminded me of the Jaffa staffs from Stargate SG-1. The portals "flush" like the Stargate so why not more nods to other sci-fi franchises!! Nicely done HG!!

played for a bit today and have yet to see any of the new content. i wonder if there is a way that it all needs to be unlocked? i explored a korvax system and a pirate system and everything seems exactly the same, except for the placeholder for the new race selection at the character customizer.

The Staff is probably the one thing I'm most interested in, hoping it'll expand into other things such as tools, weapons, ships and other things. Energy allocation from games like Elite Dangerous and Star Wars games is a fantastic addition and I hope that also expands into this game. Energy management is something that can be added to nearly everything.

New Traveler here, been been playing for a few days and am already 18 hours in. Two handed weapons makes a difference in VR. With most multitools you can hold the tool in one hand and your shield in the other. You can point the shield towards threats while pointing your weapon at your other targets. So I'll be very curious to see how the two handed staff works in VR!

I played a little this morning and man, those new pirate freighter battles are something, The days of sweeping in with an OP infra-knife and just blasting through to victory are done, these encounters will take some strategy and planning. You have to deal with the shielded freighter that's blasting the civilian freighters with giant cannons, as well as several pirate frigates that launch torpedoes at the civilian freighters that you have to intercept. And if you don't also take out the freighter's warp engines it will escape and you lose. It's definitely going to please those wanting more challenging space combat in NMS.

Between Echoes, BG3 and Starfield next week I have no life outside of the computer. Damn I took 2 months off to prepare and play Starfield and now I'm hooked on BG3, and then Echoes comes along. These Autophage guys sound like robotic versions of Vidiians from Star Trek. They had weapons that could snatch your body parts instantly so they could use them for themselves. They were infected with "The Phage" and used alien body parts to survive.

Having trouble getting the current update content to trigger. What level do we have to finish before we can access the current update. I an in the progress of getting a Living ship but am several days away. I have a Sentinel ship and have warped multiple time to Korvax systems but still no notification as to the current Echo's missions. What am I doing wrong or do I have to play all of the past content before I can enjoy the current release. Not what I re-signed up for after 2 rys away ( and 1000 hrs in )

I just got back to NMS and i got the item to get a Cosmic Fauna but when i pulse and it indicates that the Living Freighter is spawning i only find the marker but NO FREIGHTER SPAWNS

The only issue I have with this update is we can't get our own pirate freighter but that is a small thing compared to the massive amount of cool stuff we got. This is definitely one of my favorite update i've been around to witness at the launch! 😁

I only just bought the game today. Went through the opening hours, now the universe has opened up to me as I shoot around in hyperspace. I realize now just how much there is to this game, and that I am only scratching the surface. So glad I waited to join in. Because this game is just amazing. I am so happy the developer is continuing to build onto the game. Hopefully they will continue for years to come.

@jasonplaysNMS in VR you can use your multitool with one hand and the personal shield in the other, so I will have to see if using the staff inhabilite the use of the personal shield in the other hand.

when i saw creat you own staff i thought it was gonna be staffing people on your frighter for certain jobs lol. would be cool to set up a market place or hotel on a frighter to creat income too lol.
