I've already watched it a few times... there's so much good information about the different varieties, how they grow and what they are like. This was so much more than just an 'unboxing' video. I learned a ton.
Chelsae Colbert I have bought from Baker and Boar but wish I would have lEarned about MI Garderner earlier. I have binge watched the last week. I think their seeds are only .99!
I agree!!! You know seeds themselves are not super expensive for Migardner to produce, but to put them in such beautiful packaging and have all that wonderful information on that back makes it extra valuable.....I am going to be doing some shopping today ....and I am going to be using our discount code with Roots and Refuge!
my cart on bakers creek is just ones I wanna grow next year and I didn’t add most of the ones that would just be “cool to grow”..... My cart total was $115 🤣 I gasped
AHHHHH!!!! I just placed my order with MIGardener 2 days ago for my....UMMMM.....THIRTY-SIX packets of seeds! :) I love that he sells them SO reasonably, and can't WAIT to open my package! Until then, I'll have to be excited about your seed haul! ;)
Oh my stars, this was me when my Baker Creek order came in! I actually posted it on my Instagram 😂 Add those to the seeds my sil gave me as a housewarming gift and some we saved for ourselves, and we have more than 120 different kinds of seeds to try this year! I didn’t even get all the flowers and herbs we want to grow! It’s going to be amazing to be out and getting soil in our souls. I can hardly wait! Bless you, dear Jess! Thank you for your work!
I tease my kids all the time about watching those videos but I was so stinkin excited to watch this video when I saw you talk about it on Instagram lol!!
Wait, you bought all the tomato seeds that MIgardener sells? Color me shocked. Not. 😂 Love your seed haul and look forward to seeing them grow in your beautiful garden. ❤️
Yup $76.67 my husband will be pissed when he sees the bill I couldn't stop he's lucky I got waitlisted on a lot more 😂😂 you can never have enough seeds
I'm newby garden crazy haha. I placed an order with migardner I think in November or December and also I just placed a 4th order with baker creek. I keep thinking of more things I want to plant haha
I have definitely got to order some sunflower seeds to plant. I planted some last year and they started growing beautifully then the horses ate The top of them.My five-year-old was so disappointed.
Chaplain Reece I live in Alaska and deal with Mama Moose eating my tulips, salad garden, Brussels Sprouts and stripping my rose bushes of the ripe hips!
Hey Jess, you mentioned poppies, and they are one of my favs to grow, too. Do a little research on them, some are much better to plant in the Fall and let them overwinter in place. Mine are all in the ground since Oct. and just starting to show them- selves. I have over seeded them to be sure I get enough to germinate, so i will have to thin them a bit. I hate to do that , but they really need the space around them so they can get big enough. Some of mine are almost 5 feet tall, with huge blossoms. Gorgeous!! And the wait is worth it. Good luck!
Deborah Zamora I’m in Alabama, for some reason I’ve assumed they won’t do well in the humidity here. It gets HOTT. Is there a variety that would do well for me? Jess and I have the same type climate.
@@reeceespieces1014 Can't help ya there, I'm in Wa. near the Canadian border. Look around on line for info on poppy growing, there is quite a bit there. My best guess would be to plant in Fall and let them tell you. They might like a bit of light shade in the heat of the day to keep from burning, but who knows till ya try? They seem to come and go early in the season so they may do OK for you.
@@reeceespieces1014 I live in Northern Az where our summers get hot (but not as hot as Phoenix ) . My California Poppies do the best here, but last year I planted Shirley poppies and some Oriental poppies and had some success. I am curious to see if they have re-seeded. The California poppies are already coming up. They flower in the Spring and Fall mostly, with a few die-hards lasting into summer.
I’ve been following Luke since he was in high school and I’m so pleased to see him be so successful. I love his seeds, they are reasonably priced and as good as any out there. Also, I live in Nebraska, so prairie winds for sure, and I grow on cattle panel too, but installed as an arch between two raised beds. It is very sturdy and can grown melons, squash, cucumbers, beans and tomatoes. It’s my favorite trellis system. I do also have a long bed with a panel down the middle like yours and it does provide enough support, but I find arches easier to harvest from.
I'm in Nebraska too and use both cattle panel arches in raised beds and panels down the middle. We certainly have wind here and I've never had issue with either one.
Hello, my name is Hope and I'm a seedaholic... Your turn, Jess! 😊👍 Unboxing garden or watching anyone unboxing goodies is my happy place! Blessings of Bounty and May Your Gardens and your Life always Bring You Joy , Inspiration and Abundance!" - Hope
OMGoodness Jess! I was so excited to watch. I got my Migardener order last week. I also ordered the gobstopper seeds, thought they looked cool. Unfortunately I didn't get my blueberry cherry seeds I ordered. I wanted to see if they were as good or similar to wild boar blueberry cherries? I can't afford their prices($4). Thankful for Migardener's $ .99 seeds. Would love to see you do a comparison of the two. I think I'm going to have to do a 2nd order after watching, lol.
You should do a February complete garden tour, but instead of showing us that nothing is growing, go up and down the aisles and tell us what you plan to put in those spots. We have to wait til June to see it in full bloom, but can imagine it til that point :)
I did nto like san marzan last year, and i got the seed from Migardener. I certainly dont think it was the seeds fault, but they got diseased so quick! plus they tasted kinda basic.
I also bought all of his tomato varieties and so many of everything else I love and things I just wanted to try. It’s so easy to indulge my seed hoard when they’re only .99. I love to see what you are growing since I’m also in Arkansas but a little further south so generally I have the same luck with the same varieties. Thanks
I accidentally grew a Silvery Fir Tree last year. There was one seed in a package of other tomato seeds and I really loved it. It got special treatment.
I love garden seeds!! I’m 60 years old and just love watching you open your box!! lol! I Have never grew poppies, but just bought some poppy seeds last week!! So funny!
Now I want to go buy all the seeds 😂😂 pity here in Ireland we can’t grow half those things. I did manage to find a melon seed that will grow here, I’m really hoping it does well!
Great video thanks for sharing with us...I was watching you and hear peep, peep I ran to the hatching room I know that sound wasn't on your video 🤣🤣 We have babies 🐣🐣 hatching..❤ I have alot of Mi Gardener seeds my mailman is like here Elizabeth let me guess more seeds🤣🌻
I found myself audibly shouting "The mug matches the puzzle! Ooh, and it's HUGE! That's SO COOL!" And yes, now I am doing exactly what my daughter does watching Pokémon unboxing videos 😂
that part about losing people when you start talking about plants is me right now 😂😂😂 totally relate...their eyes kinda just glaze over and you know you should stop..but then they’re so polite so you just take advantage and keep talking... love you Jess!!! I started gardening because of you and Luke so it’s so nice to see you guys are friends! :) God bless your family and your garden in the new year!
Exactly my thoughts “it’s so easy to add more seeds when they are only $0.99” 🤣 I got in so much trouble last year. I’m hoping I contain myself this year
I’m opening my seed order this weekend and I’m so excited! I think I might have ordered as much as you haha it’s my first year creating our new homestead garden and I got a bit carried away 🤣
I am a new gardener and I watch his videos and yours and I was so excited when I got the seeds in the mail! I love geeking out and watching your videos :)
I bought some MIgardener seeds last year - Orange Roussolini included. That video of his was infectious. It's very tempting to order that frilly Kale they just got.
If you've ever had a problem with caterpillars, don't plant the frilly kale. I never had a problem until I planted it. They hide inside and it's almost impossible to see them. Only way to get them out is soak in apple cider vinegar. They ate half my crop before I realized what was eating them. I learned the hard way. That being said, I love dinosaur kale. No problems with it.
Darlene Clark Have you tried the floating row cover on them like living Traditions did last year on their brassicas? It really worked for them to keep the bugs off.
I love love un boxing videos especially when it's seeds! I have always wanted to grow poppies but never managed to do it. I'm going to try this year. I love this valentines idea. I'm going to look into it
Ordered all my seeds this year from MI gardener and backer creek instead of getting them from big box stores and I feel so much better about it! And it adds so much more meaning behind the plants now. Thanks Jess!
This video was both amazing and fun but so hard to watch for me because last week my seeds allllllllll got ruined. I make a mistake and left them in a way too moist environment because i pulled them out to look at and read the packets and left them on my porch where i drink coffee. Then when i realized it it was too late i cried. I found them moldy, rotten and blacked or sprouted and dead. I was devastated. I had my Baker creek and MIA Gardener seeds. I remembered almost crying in happy tears when i got my orders. I spent hours pouring over the packets and the catalog. After DREAMING of buying from that catalog and wanting to buy seeds from Luke to support his family for years i was so happy to buy them last spring. Then losing them was hard. Knowing i can't replace them all anytime soon kills me. I also had a bunch of seeds from my friends baker creek order because we swapped. Its totally ruined my gardening year. 😭😭💔 I feel like yall might understand my pain. Lol But watching this brought me joy though as all your videos do Jess. Your passion for life is infectious. Thank you so much for sharing it.
I grow the Migardener tulsi as well and it is so fragrant that I have some hung up to dry since last summer and I never took them down because they STILL smell amazing
I did poppies for the first time last year (needed a reminder of my home state). They did ok considering I started them late. I am doing more this year.
You should try growing the poppies that are cultivars of Papaver soniferum, which are actually opium poppies, but are also the poppies from which bread poppy seeds come from. They are annuals that will self seed around, and are the most beautiful poppies I think. One of the really cool things about opium poppies is that it's very easy to organize your own strain just by pulling out all but the ones with the nicest colors, so that the ones that set seed your faves. The ones you have are oriental poppies, I think, which are perennial and are very beautiful also, but flower for a very short time in early summer, or probably spring where you are. Probably not worth trying to grow blue poppies (Meconopsis) where you are-they need cool conditions and good acid soil.
I have been getting so many seeds and gardening supplies in the mail, it’s like Christmas again ☺️ this will be my first year growing my entire spring garden from seed and I’m so excited to get things started!! Thanks for the discount code Jess 💕
I grow poppies every year. Supper easy. I just scatter them over the yard and let nature take it course. I scattered them in October/November and they are now starting to bloom. They are blooming earlier than usual because of the extra warm weather we are having. Even My iris are blooming.
I share your seed obsession on such a deep level!! I would spend $1000's on seeds every year if i didn't have to exercise massive self control. I only have about a 10'X20' plot of earth to grow in, but one day i will reach my dream of owning land!
So, if you don't recommend growing beans on an arched trellis, how do you recommend growing them? I really want to get enough this year to warrant canning.
i get the same wide eyed reaction when people ask me why did i get a garden when you can get anything at the supermarket and I start to talk :No you can't,Did you know there are more then 2 types of tomatoes(normal size and cherry sized red tomatoes that by the way lately taste like nothing even at farmers market)there Are green and yellow and orange and purple and striped and potato leafed tomatoes and pear look alike tomatoes and they taste different. And asparagus peas and holy basil.thai basil.red basil....lemon verbena.lemon thyme, borage,nasturtium...patty pan squash...strawberry mint ,pineapple mint...purple carrots, red carrots...okra...cucumbers that taste lemony ...And they ask why would you wanna eat a yellow tomato. And I say why don't you?Cause tomatoes are red, period.God doesn't think so,He gave this to us,these spectacular magical variety and some say No to this wonderful experience:I once met a farmer at the market bewildered that I bought all his purple cherry tomatoes(People don't even want to taste them for free,he said ,you bought all of them without tasting them .I said ,but I know ....and his face lit up.We were like in a bubble you know at the end of the movie Forces of nature with Sandra Bullock and Ben Affleck...My people...
I just got my first order from them. I’m so excited! Way too many seeds but I will find a place for them all somehow. Always an empty bucket in need of a tomato plant.
worms love melon peels u doing an ingrown garden so it would be just awesome u put those melon peels there as your kids snack on them u will enrich that area full of worms :) just an idea
Bonnie’s Best is the one that the Stivers love, you were correct. That was very nice of Luke and Cindi to send you all of the extra goodies. It makes it all worth it, doesn’t it?
Ok, I'm back 😃I am quilting as I can not garden yet. As soon as your videos pop up I stop what I'm listening to and watch you. I'm so happy you added a 10% of for Migardner I need to order more seeds the beginning of next month.
I love ordering seeds from MI gardener ... I've been watching Luke's channel for a few years .. I appreciate all the advice he gives and it's much needed here lol
I would love to sit down with you and just talk seeds! I believe seed shopping is my favorite part of gardening because it's so full of promise and potential.
