This is one of my favourite Jump Rope drills for developing Razor-Sharp Speed. I do this pretty much every jump rope workout. It's intense, but you don't even have to jump. Sounds absurd? Let me show you!

Re-watching this to refresh my memory and sending to some buddies that asked me about how to do these ☺️ definitely a head turning technique 👌

Great stuff JJ - yeah, I find that when I’m whippin’ this technique around in the gym I do get the odd head turned/silence falling. It just sounds and looks SO dangerous! Glad you’re enjoying it; it’s a great mobility drill as well as looking cool af. Massive thanks for sharing also; really appreciate all the help I can get on that front - will keep working hard to push out more dope videos + concepts Thanks a lot brother, -Glen

Thank you for the great tutorial and great content overall. I can tell you put a lot of time into each video you push out. Various movements (particularly the nunchuck looking one) have done wonders for my shoulder. Not sure if I mentioned suffering from a shoulder injury a few months back, I say a big part of healing was just doing these swings with light and heavy ropes. So glad I came across this channel man! Can't wait to see what else you got coming!

awww those kids are so cute on their scooters, I thought my kids were to young for those but these looked pretty young too and they were good at it! oh...and I also love the tutorial lol just teasing you yes thank for explaining this move, I gave up on the rockstar. Going to work on this drill to get to the rockstar eventually :) Thank you for video!
@RopeRage
@RopeRage 5 лет назад
Haha, they were doing some serious stuff on those scooters - I think it was some kinda super competitive race! so glad you enjoyed the tutorial because this had to be put out before I do the Rockstar one, since it’s a foundation of the whole technique. Let me know how you get on with this 👍 but rest assured that I’m working to put the full Rockstar tutorial out ASAP 😎 Cheers, -Glen

Thanks for this! Love seeing all the variations of this technique and the smoothness of your transitions. The variation at minute 10:17 where you kind of reverse the arm and the elbow comes forward....any tips on that one. Seen it in other vids and been trying to figure it out.
@RopeRage
@RopeRage 5 лет назад
Nice one Max 😎 yeah, that transition in particular is actually a personal favourite of mine - will be working to put that out first (hoping to do detailed breakdowns of all the variations - maybe in separate videos) It’s hard to explain in words, but one thing is to think like this: if you’re doing the sword swing across the body, at the beginning of the swing you want your palm facing down (instead of up, as usual) - this palm-down position will make your elbow point forward naturally. Then from that point, actually swinging the rope is powered more by the shoulder. I use this type of sword swing really as a shoulder mobility exercise to get that region warm before intense training. Unlike the regular sword swing, for this one the palm begins down-facing and ends up-facing. Hope that (long essay) makes a bit of sense for now, but again I’ll explain it better in the video 😎 All the best with your training, Glen

thanks Syzygy! Yeah, this isn't the first time I've received this message... I'm realizing the thing is that growing this channel is not about just making good content, there are other things that have to be done as well. So I've been working on that a lot lately. This journey of a few years sharing some of my best work has been frustrating sometimes due to lack of growth, but also rewarding when I think about how many people consistently say they enjoy the videos and find them helpful. I'm always gratefuul for people like yourself who are here AT THE BEGINNING of the journey. It's only a matter of time till the subscribers come 😎 I know theyre out there; it's just about figuring out how to reach them! Thanks again, and as always, feel free to drop me a message if you ever need any help/advice with your training 👊🏾 Glen

@@RopeRage You're definitely right, Glen!! I believe that too :) Please don't give up on your channel, I know you won't. Continue guiding us as we change our lives through jumping rope. I will continue to support you, man! Once I improved and changed my body, I'll share your content to the ones I'm helping in starting out with the jump rope. :) God bless you, coach!!!!

I have one question, coach. I've been practicing for aboutt a month now and I already got the proper form and technique, and my body already know how it feels to swing even a lighter rope but I feel like my rope is letting me down.😅 I'm still practicing everyday tho, cause I live by what you said "do not give your power to the rope." I'm kinda frustrated cause there's not much quality jump ropes to choose from here in my country. I'm using a regular plastic speed rope with simple handles and I'm actually saving up for a more solid rope. Do you recommend the rx smart gear?
@RopeRage
@RopeRage 4 года назад
Hey Syzygy - I only just realized that I missed this second message. Which country are you from? Hopefully we will be able to find a good option that will ship to your country. I have been using the rx smart gear for a couple of years because it is quite heavy and the metal cable makes it quite fast, but I always stress that when learning people probably shouldn't start with it. That's my belief. Can be very frustrating because the extra weight means it hurts when it hits the body. How do you feel your rope is letting you down, in what way? Maybe we'll be able to go further from there. If you like, email me at glen@roperage.co.uk. MUCH BETTER with responding to messages there. Thanks, -Glen

I don't understand how you keep your rope from tangling up when you have both handles in one hand. I have the exact same rope, I guess I'm doing something wrong.
@RopeRage
@RopeRage 5 лет назад
Hey Nimeu, so glad you sent this in as it is an important topic that not many talk about. I want people to try to understand that it’s not the rope! So there’s a small aspect of technique that we need to keep in mind; I’ll cover that in future 👌 It’s not your fault, a lot of companies try to sell their ropes as being the cure to all problems 😄but please try not to think that using a different rope will instantly solve a problem. So to help out, one thing to bear in mind is that if you turn a rope a certain number of times on one side, it will tangle. That’s just physics. There are techniques we can do to reduce tangling, but try to “even out” the swings - so if you do two side swings one side, do two on the other side to ease tangling. Let me know how it goes; I truly hope this super long message is helpful 👍🏽 All the best with your training -Glen

hey Nimeu, just wanted to personally message to say the video on how you can lessen tangling with the one handed side swings was just posted up on the channel! Just wanted to make sure you didn't miss it as I'm hoping it can help blow past that sticking point 🚀 Hope you're doing well, -Glen
