Super informative video! Do you always follow the White wool with the yellow? Or only on darker colors? I have an all white boat I'll be doing soon (needs a full restore) and wasn't sure if the process is the same or slightly different

Hey man! I’m most scenarios, the yellow wool is followed after the white one. It really gets a lot of the swirls out and makes a glass- like finish. It paves the way for polish with the forced rotation really well.

Great video!! Curious as to why you dry sand with 800 & 1000 vs. wet sand. I'm starting on my 21 ft Triton bass boat. It's been garage kept most of its' life, so it doesn't have a lot of oxidation. I'm thinking I just need to use medium cut and polish. I already have a 6" DA that is variable speed. So, what products do you recommend I should buy for my project?

Thanks! You get a better cut by dry sanding. When you wet sand, the paper almost sort of “hydroplanes” and you don’t cut as deeply as you want to.

Hey drake thanks for all the info and videos and being a man of the lord that’s so awesome you are my hero! I went to key west a year ago and loved it I wanna move down there and start a business so I stumbled across your videos a few weeks ago am I out of my mind thinking I could learn from your videos and buy equipment and move down there and start a detailing company like yours? To much competition down there? I live in ga and drive for ups this place is killing me physically and mentally I gotta go and I’ve been praying about this hoping god would send me something and I came across your videos any advice? Hey bro, top side definitely can be tough. Unfortunately, it just takes practice until you have your own system down to where you can move the most officially. Top sides take a minute to be proficient at.

Less mess is why he does it for 1 reason and some other I am sure. Wet sanding leaves a big mess and dry sanding is just dust u can blow or wipe off.

@@gregsteadman With wet sanding you can wipe it up with a rag and collect all the sanded gelcoat, while dry sanding sends it into the air and lungs unfortunately.

You don’t get a deep enough cut with wet sanding. The sandpaper will almost hydroplane if you use too much water. Dry sand get way better cut and a way better clear finish at the end. But, it takes a lot of skill and experience to buff out dry sanding scratches versus wet sanding scratches after the fact.
