I find it crazy to think that 15 years ago I was sitting in my room spending hours working through the material in your books wishing I could get a lesson from you. And now I just did!
Great video! You nailed my main problem with the "It's about integration" section. I have plenty of unconnected bits of information. Definitely time to start tying the stuff together and connecting the puzzle pieces. Thank you!
@@TroyStetinaMusic Haha Thanks! My niece was the inspiration for the Bubba portion. On an unrelated (to guitar) question did you ever go with Wayne and Dale down to Zellwood FL during your cycling days?
Thanks Troy for showing us the way about integration! Now I can see the whole integration process to eat the whole elephant one bite as a time, also as a way to fully master the fretboard. It's a lifelong journey: Integrate box 1 with triad, arpeggio, minor pentatonic and natural minor (4x). Repeat that for box 2, 3, 4 and 5 (20x). Then repeat that in 12 keys (240x). Then do the same with major pentatonic and major scale (480x). Eventually, the elephant will be eaten!
Yes! But the thing is, as you progress, you don't need to learn it all over... for example in each key. Because they are the same patterns, just shifted. So you do need to apply them, but it comes faster and faster, like a ball rolling down a hill😊
@Troy Stetina you should also plug your The Ultimate Scale Book pocket guide (orange cover) because it shows the pentatonic boxes (solid dots) superimposed in the diatonic scale with 2nd and 6th shown in gray dots like you were talking about in this lesson. That book has been my bible for years ever since I started playing in the 90's and I still have it. Great job with your channel!
Great video Troy 😎 Recently I discovered I really enjoy playing a minor scale as 6 note scale . Hexatonic. Just avoid the minor 6th and it's a really cool ambiguous sound . The minor 6 adds too heavy an emotion for me sometimes 🤣
Hello sir Stetina I have your Heavy metal rythem vol1 and 2, Heavy metal lead vol1 and 2, Speed mechanic for lead and Speed and thrash metal so I am in chapter five of Heavy metal rythem guitar what do you think about if I start Heavy metal lead guitar or any other book or I should finish Heavy metal rythem guitar first I would be happy if you answer my question and also I have another question about how to hold a guitar casual method or classical method?!
Hi... I'd recommend you start MLG1 slowly and do a little of that alongside MRG1 and 2. Also add in Thrash metal to supplement when you get further into MRG2. Wait to start SM until you get further into MLG1. You can work in several books together, to make sure you have a lot of variety to practice. Also, try learning other songs at roughly your current level. Good luck!!
im learning your metal rhythm guitar vol.1. I spent 2-3 hours a day to practice. I can play whips and chains after 1,5 months. Sometimes, i play wrong string in right hand. Maybe i studied slowly, right? Can you tell me how to improve my right hand. Thank you mr. Troy!!!!!
Mr Stetina... You have some of the absolute best lessons on the internet...I am very grateful for you sharing your knowledge...But there is one thing that is really detracting from your playing... I am sorry, maybe you like it but...Whats up with the paint job on that guitar? Im sorry but that is the worst paint job I have ever seen on an otherwise totally rad superstrat!. Maybe you dont want anyone to steal your favorite axe? Anyway... Thank you for the great lessons...In all seriousness they are very helpful...Many thanks!
