I've heard a lot of crap about a lot of things. Everybody's thing is better than the other guys thing. The other guys thing is always stupid and possibly dangerous. "My thing is scientifically proven to blah blah". Yet, I think they are similar. Vegans say "I cut out carbs and eat only vegetables". The carnivores say "I cut out carbs and ear only meat". Dur, you see anything in common? These guys believe in God. Those guys believe in Allah. Umm, any chance you believe in the same thing? There are differences, don't get me wrong. But there are a hell of a lot of similarities too. Crossfit seems cool, I guess. If it makes them healthy, that's cool.
The fact he has been able to compete in a nutty ass sport like crossfit games, win 5 times, and still be able to function, is amazingly impressive. Agree, dog on crossfit all you want, but those who are successful have shown the possible limits of the body.
@@mytruthslays1303 limits of the body? Yeah because Lifting heavy weight with improper form is really “pushing” the human body lmao. It’s a good sport to start if you don’t care about your bone & joint health, the entire sport is “do as many improper exercises as you can in a short amount of time”. There’s a reason everybody in the lifting community clowns cross fitters.
@@Bino8724 Mar Fraser was a junior olympics weight lifter. Guarantee he has better form than 99.99% of people lifting. I think people get confused a lot because CrossFit is, at its base, a sport. They have different goals than most people. Kipping pull-ups, though not the best form if you’re going for hypertrophy, are the best form if you’re going for max reps. It’s a different goal and basically a different workout

@@andrewheckaman8441 No What? Use your head and stop being biased. The higher the prize the higher the competition for that prize, thats just common sense. Highest pay for crossfit 1st place is $300,000 compare that to highest paid NFL line backer $30,000,000. Multiply the Crossfit prize money by 100 and I bet you this guy will not be standing on the podium.
@@vaticinus Your logic is ridiculously flawed. You are comparing things that can't be compared. You are like "NFL players lift, CrossFit athletes lift, so they must be sharing the same traits and thus can be compared"? First off comparing NFL with CrossFit is like comparing water polo with basketball. The fact that your average NFL player is familiar with most CrossFit movements and reasonably fit doesn't mean anything nor can be used as an argument to support that they will automatically do well. Secondly, NFL has more money so more competition and thus athletes there must be easily able to outperform CrossFit athletes? What? Maybe since soccer has the most money worldwide we can also argue that elite soccer players would easily outperform swimmers like Michael Phelps and Ian Thorpe in their sport (since swimming doesn't even come close to having even 1% of the money involved in soccer). Do not compare things that can't be compared. This guy is ridiculously fit no matter who you put up against him. If you are an NFL fan that's cool. If you thing CF is overhyped that's also cool. But has nothing to do with ones or another's ability or fitness.
@@nickvasios3650 he is saying that the best athletes are in the NFL which when you look at measurables is probably a fair statement. His point is that if crossfit paid people and had the following the NFL does you'd see a flood of ridiculous athletes in the sport.
@@hgetahun I've watched the CrossFit Games. It's clown shit. Fucking kettle bell lunges through uneven fields, kipping pullups, putting the runs first so all the good lifters are disqualified and when they get to the lifting it's only people who don't know what the fuck they're doing. I don't have anything against CrossFit, but the CrossFit Games are set up by mentally handicapped people.
@@DrFrogglePhD Fascinating. I have no interest in 'consumer-level' CrossFit, only the elite level, specifically the Games. But that's Life, eh? Being able to agree to disagree, respecting the other person's way of seeing things. Well, at least that's the idea, anyway. LOL

@DLO 06 you mean in your opinion that's why he hung it up?? In reality he had nothing more to prove, had recently had a kid, and wasn't challenged really, ok that last one was my opinion but still
@@diychad7268 The sport has elevated across the board in difficulty too though. I'm just saying it's kind of an apples to oranges comparison because they never competed against each other while they were both at their peak in training effort. As CrossFit was actually maturing as a sport was around the time Froning retired from solo and went to teams exclusively which is right around when Fraser finished school and really double downed on training to win with a focus on diet, rest, recovery and weakness identification and improvement. Both men are serious athletes in their own right and would wipe the floor with the vast majority of athletes, both can still hang with the 1% of CrossFit.
Few years ago Matt had a little campaign trying to get to JRE. Froning did also. Lots of fans have requested this also. So yes some of us have been waiting this a while
@@willm678 if he really is "one of the best," wouldn't he have made it on an actual pro team and enriched himself? dude, crossfit is for people who can't. those that can't do, teach, and those that can't sport crossfit. same same. guy, crossfitters cheat every rep, you don't get world class at anything by grabbing a pullup bar and flopping like a fish. crossfit actually destroys sports careers, it doesn't build them. go do a google search and prove me wrong.
Really interesting to hear Mat say the quote “There’s a difference between pain and injury” when talking about the weightlifting coach. It’s also a very common quote used by college football coaches. Although it’s true and athletes need to understand the difference, I think coaches shouldn’t totally dismiss an athlete’s concern for the sake of production.

@@WillJM81280 of course you are 100% right. what bothers me is everybody criticising crossfit for using "bad form". or not using correct form to build muscle when thats no the goal of the sport. is it injury prone? maybe, but not much mire than throwing heavy stuff overhead or lifting heavy stones. all sports comes with some risk .

So not exactly, identifying and hormone therapy are both required.
A welcome exception to most crossfitters I’ve come across. Being dominant at your respective field, you have no natural predators, tends to make you not be a dick. Also, I love how they are including some strongman events too (stones, pressing medley, and farmers carry). Makes it more about real strength and not just who can do a ton of burpees and row fast.
Many of the top crossfit athletes squat in the high 400lbs and squat clean atleast 315lbs, so its never been about who can do body weight stuff the fastest lol.
athletes who compete in the sport of crossfit and people who go to a crossfit gym are very different people. I think that people who go to a crossfit gym that take their training too seriously are off putting to most people. It's the fact that they treat lifting as a sport which it isn't. You should never be doing olympic lifts in time increments it leads to bad form which leads to injuries.
@@PmK96 I definitely agree that doing Olympic lifts right after sprinting 200m, and doing 50lb dumbbell snatches can lead to poor form, which leads to injury. But to say that it’s somehow not a sport because it doesn’t have an object going into some kind of goal isn’t valid.
@@lukeblankenship8424 you're definition is wonky, it can be more than that. Usually I'm sport you compete to be the best at something. CF doesn't have the best at lifting, running, etc just mediocre athletes that do these events which are just random. Putting them together doesn't determine the best at jumping, lifting, running, falling or even doing pushups. When you go to a lifting event, those are the strongest people trying to find the best at squats, bench, clean/jerk,etc. As long as you get exercice and have a good physiotherapist, it's still better than doing nothing so its way better than the 30%+ of obese population (just don't get them to do crossfit to lose weight). Just like bodybuilding and its bro science, physio clinics will keep making mint on people trying to combine olympic lifting with speed and fatigue inducing workouts.
