Congratulations to all the med students! Match Day Phone Calls part 1: • Match Day Phone Calls Match day phone calls part 2: • Match Day Phone Calls ...
Being a neuro PA... Expectation: holding scalpel Reality: holding phone and picking up the dry cleaning after the surgery (if they're allowed to leave the hospital, that is)
"This job is pretty chill. Sometimes things will happen that haunt you for the rest of your life, but" I feel like this describes a surprising and depressing number of jobs across industries.
@@EvilPaladin11 I'm very happy I caught it the first time because it had me ROLLING. I even had to watch it multiple times just to confirm I saw what I thought I did
@@catherinefoster1411 I was also trying to figure out what the design (actually) is for the whole skit. The number of hidden Easter eggs for us in every video is gold
Yes! As a patient who's been doing physical therapy for most of my life, that part cracked me up too. Clamshells and resistance bands! That's been part of my daily at-home PT for 12 years now.
“Applying to neurosurgery with only 27 publications, ..favorite TPN (for yourself). Thank you, so funny! , I’m just a 38 year travel critical care nurse/Ebola fighter but these 😂are spot on for friends around the country. Your wife is awesome for showing the world what CPR can do, talk about health promotion. Happy day to Glauc family! (nods).
The robot inserting the foley sounds as scary as the one that can draw blood….. best make sure the right robot is doing the right procedure on the right patient!! 😳
An ER resident tried inserting three different sized catheters just before I was wheeled out of the ER but my penis was NOT having it!! She practically begged me to let her try again but I refused and told her I’ll go in a bottle…. She should’ve done it while I was still unconscious and was being stitched up (Cycling accident with a TBI and facial lacerations).
Somehow the live Dartmouth Match Day Ceremony came up on my feed and OMG - before each one announced their match, I could correctly pick out a new Ortho Bro, Psychiatrist, ED doc and Pediatrician based on your characters!
This has officially confirmed that PM&R is the right program for me. I too get unreasonably hyped about Gastrocnemius vs Soleus impacts on plantarflexion
Go for it! It's a very slept-on field and they need more physicians. Not to mention the bonuses of working a consistent schedule, never being on call, and making a ton of money anyway.
Holy crap, it’s the same for me! I am starting my residency in a few months - I still have time to make up my mind but at this point I am fairly confident that PM&R is going to be the ONE 🤩 And I’m so friggin’ happy about that! 😁😁😁
Where I live we are missing so many anaesthesia docs that it is no longer an application then get accepted or not, you just fill a form and start right away. Too bad they don’t pay them much…
The only thing the anesthesiologist is missing is having at least 2-3 blankets from the blanket warmer wrapped around him...which get left behind for the OR staff to clean up....
Clearly the neurosurgeon hasn't heard of bone conduction earphones so that the scrub nurse doesn't have to hold the phone to his ear. Or he has heard of them and ignores them because it diminishes the important work the medical student is doing holding up his phone.
„Fakeuronium” 😂😂😂 I cracked up at this one 😅 I remember one time when I was doing my anesthesiology rotation, we put a patient to sleep for an arthroscopy and at some point the orthopedic surgeon started complaining that the patient probably had too high blood pressure, because he couldn’t see anything in the operating field and the anesthesiologist told him that the blood pressure was fine and we couldn’t administer anything to the patient. But the surgeon got angry and told everyone that either we gave something or he wouldn’t operate anymore. So we gave a little bit of saline solution and in a moment we could hear from another side of the drape: „I can finally work” 😅
My former Jonathan now 2nd year med student is going to be taking her boards. ? Her roommates are 4th years and both matched 🎉! For all those students out there, congratulations and blessings ❤!
@tamarinmangold1414 I got him once. I was ... in position for a prostate check. As he was getting ready, I said, "I could've been a plastic surgeon, could've been an ophthalmologist but noooooo, I had to become a dick doctor." He busted out laughing. It's just as uncomfortable for them as it is for us.
As somebody who works with physiatrists (PM&R) I really appreciate the loving and very accurate spotlight you put on them. They need it 😅 Edit: Also just noticed that neurosurgery isn't holding his own phone. On point 💀
A heartfelt thank you to dermatologists for helping me sort out the painful and widespread cystic acne I still have at the age of 25. It was genuinely upsetting for my self esteem and quality of life. I hope no one has to ever put up with acne that you can physically _feel_ the pressure build up of just under the skin in every waking moment and massively stung at the slightest touch or movement of the face. Some nights I legitimately woke up to half my face in pain because I slept with my face on my pillow.
Seems like a pretty sweet gig...till logger bro shows up with his mid-face smashed to bits by the grapple on the log loader & all you can do is "aim for the bubbles" through all the blood...an actual quote by the cool as a cucumber anesthesiologist who stole an emergency trach away from me that day 😉
I have to admit that the box reminding me that a licensed Doctor putting this much effort in character acting is starting to worry me. Also, it took me until his third appearance to realize the neurosurgeon was hands deep into someone's brain while taking the call. Worrying.
He's an ophthalmologist, most of their work is cataracts surgeries, they have a lot of free time and it's one of the cushier specialties, there's plenty of self aware humour regarding this in other skits. I'm glad that he spends his free time making content that helps other medical personnel to at least have a decent chuckle during their exhausting shifts, as well as bringing awareness to issues within the medical world (US insurance is a notable one), and giving a glimpse into what doctors' lives are like, even if mostly through humour. I've seen a good amount of comments from the people who work in the specialties he portrays in his videos saying he makes the effort and does his research to still represent them well in a youtube comedy short.
Absolutely love this but i am begging for more Fraggle content (we want to be abby from ncis, we usually are dr.doofenschmirtz). Ofcourse not forgetting our overlord Tabitha & her sidekick the pathologist.
I only learned that TPN thing like last night cuz I am not sure if I will have to use that in my near future. Honestly seems kinda nice to me right now. BTW TPN is when you are fed nutrition through an iv drip.
I would imagine that making skin glow is a microneedling or tattooing process in which glowing jellyfish proteins are transferred into the skin cells, likely denaturing over time and requiring additional trips every few months to repeat the process. So yes, incredibly expensive.
Taking about the haunting things that can affect drs. I made told my surgeon on a minor surgery after he had told me that he had lost a patient recently. I told him if I died I was absolutely ok w it and that he shouldn't let him bother him... They obviously thought I was scared instead of being honest lol So the anesthesiologist told me I was breathing in oxygen when he knocked me out lol 😅😂 Oops I can understand why but it did give me a chuckle when I woke up. I also always thank the anesthesiologist because they're the one who keeps me alive. The surgery had been success but they went downhill and passed. He connected it to covid... Not positively but had noticed others who had recently had it hadn't done anything as well or had odd complications. So they screened for it.
