Christmas is celebrated today on Match Game 73! Panel: Jack Cassidy, Brett Somers, Charles Nelson Reilly, June Lockhart, Richard Dawson, and Loretta Swit
I wish there was a real time machine so I could go back and record every single game show episode on the big three networks before being erased and bring them to the present to be watched by everyone.
My favorite show was Bewitched. Due to my age, I only discovered it with Nick at Nite years ago. Jack Cassidy was on a few episodes. Unfortunately, his characters never talked so elegantly. But yes eye of newt was a regular ingredient on that show. Oh Jack. He could read me the phone book and I would melt.
Wow! I loved Bewitched, too. I was too young to know who all the actors were. Did he play Maurice, Andora's husband or ex-husband, Samantha's father. That part I at least know. I had to chuckle cause I was gonna leave a comment saying how much I disliked Cassidy's voice. I usually like accents like that, but for some reason, his is irritating me.
@@40bpaula Yes ma'am, he was a bit full of himself I believe. Maybe more-so than even the average performer. He dies three years later in 1976 by fire caused by smoking in bed (I think). Some sort of fire I believe combined with being passed out drunk.. He was known to be very jealous of his hugely famous son David Cassidy's giant career. And he would ultimately die of alcoholism as well.
Judy needs a new hairbrush for Christmas! And I was surprised that the whole panel didn't answer "gas" for the Mexican restaurant question being that there was a gas shortage in America at the time
I often been surprised that Gene let them say he lived on Cape Cod, I figure he wouldn't anyone to know exactly where he lived at that time. I mean he mention he comuted but I was just surprised. Maybe back then people didn't bother stars or tried to stake them.
@@dmnemaine We wouldn't know how to properly conduct ourselves without insufferable virtue signaling from people who act like they are so much better than everyone else.
@@thejetset3357 Hmm. Not sure how stating that the "Merry Christmas" crowd are the ones feeling offended when someone else doesn't say it is "virtue signaling". It's a factual statement. They accuse others of being offended by them saying "Merry Christmas" when they're the ones taking offense when someone dares not to say it to them.
@@dmnemaine Exactly. Every year we get the same c@#p from the same idiots who, ironically, are the only people who actually mention that Christmas might offend someone.
Fun episode. Jack Cassidy speaks with a kind of British accent, and the women contestants in the 73 match game were knockouts. Peggy could have been in a Russ Meyer movie and Judy Ross is one of the most beautiful women I've seen in my life. Keeps the interest up, along with the silliness.
Judy Ross and her husband Doug look to have gone from clothing sales to real estate. They have a Zillow listing that looks to be old but the picture is of this contestant..
I love Brett, but I can't BELIEVE she would purposely ruin it for the contestant just to be funny! (I know most of them do, but Brett's usually pretty sensible)
Did Match Game air new episodes from July to December of 1973,or did the show stop for September new episodes? In other words, did the July return act as September-like into 1974?
actually found a place where they mention "common as pig tracks". (and it was about 2/3 of the way down)....www.phrases.org.uk/bulletin_board/33/messages/455.html

Loretta has esp going this week, she has been the only match for some weird answer quite a few times this week.. ;0) Uhhh Gene you were valedictorian, of course this was the 30's ;0), of your class and won a spelling bee in the 3rd grade and been a rebel ever since you were a teenager.. ;0) (Comment that Ira was a college grad and Gene never finish high school..) Pretty good Christmas week here at MG everyone gave away something this week but Charles first week as a regular he won by giving away 7,750 dollars in head to heads and audience match matches this week with 11 matches for the regulars. June gave away 5,000 dollars in a head to head match with 11 matches for the semi regulars. Jack gave away 1,000 dollars in a audience match matches. Both Richard and Loretta gave away 500 dollars in audience match matches and Brett gave away 250 dollars in an audience match match.
Obviously drunk, cost Peggy, but the answer was beans because of the gas shortage and beans are popular in Mexican restaurant and give you gas, all ties together and seems to be what the writers were going for
