Gone to a better dimension- Soupy, 2009; Brett, 2007; Charles, 2007; Madelyn, 2003; Richard, 2012; Gene Rayburn, 1999; announcer Johnny Olson, 1985. Only Betty is still with us from this episode. ++++
All I can think of is that Luis was glad to be outta there after all the imitations of the way he speaks from everybody on the panel including Gene. I mean damn, it`s almost like they just were really overdoing it
But you notice that Gene never calls Richard the star of Family Feud. Gene insisted on himself being called a star, but he wouldn't call Richard a star. And he never asked Richard to explain his show or give any details the way he did with others,
H/H match update: ... Today's action: Our champion only needs one "nose" to tie, and two to win. Did he "blow" it? Why does everyone "pick" on him? Unfortunately for our champion, the panel offers five servings of "hair" plus Brett's "pores," and so he departs with $350 winnings from his one game. Today's audience match question: " _________ Thomas" (My thoughts: Richard, Saint, Marlo) The celebs: Richard (Danny), Betty (Lowell), and Madlyn (Doubting) -- Kudos to Madlyn for a great answer in third position! The choice: Danny The answers: Marlo, Doubting, Danny (I don't do too well on the name questions.) (Match Game trivia: I thought of Richard Thomas because he appeared on the second week of Match Game '73 - episodes 6-10 - and during that week, he was called on twice for the head-to-head and matched once. The other panelists that week were Richard Dawson, Arlene Francis, Bob Barker, Della Reese, and Thomas' "The Waltons" costar Miss Michael Learned. Richard had just turned 23 five days before those MG episodes were taped.) I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that our new champion will choose... Richard. It was a short limb. Richard will play again. Reviewing all the H/H matches back to episode 721, Richard was chosen 42 times. Someone else was chosen 9 times. Of Richard's ten most recent attempts, he's matched three times. Today's H/H question: "Rusty _______ " (It feels like there's a person or character I should be thinking of, but I'm not. I'll just say rusty nails and play the video.) Richard isn't stumped for long. It looks like his answer is about four letters long. The contestant looks like she's trying to think of something/someone, but it's not coming to her. Well, she took the same default I did, and said "nail." I still think there's some person or character that would have been well-known in 1976. With the video paused, I checked Wikipedia's "Rusty" disambiguation page. There are about 50 or so people listed, and maybe a dozen fictional characters, but none of them was an "a-ha!" name for me. Well, now I'm interested to hear what Richard has to say. Roll the video! Richard does one of his typical fake-outs, saying he thought of a person, but his card says "Nail." Richard scores his 191st H/H match today. Here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: (Note: An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.) (Note: For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.) Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 83.3% (5 wins in 6 attempts). TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Charles - 51.0% (27 wins in 53 attempts). Betty - 50.0% (18 wins in 36 attempts). Fannie - 47.8% (11 wins in 23 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Richard - 41.5% (191 wins in 460 attempts). Brett - 41.3% (26 wins in 63 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 773, excluding the lost/missing/damaged episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, and 645. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")
Many of the female contestants were so pretty! I grew up watching this show (I was 8 in 1976), and I'm pretty sure my preferences for what I find attractive now is based on all the 70s TV I watched.
Could your thoughts about their looks have something to do with the fact less than 1% of the contestants were overweight? I'm willing to be the answer is yes.
I've been saying that from the start, I've been watching from the very beginning and heard the Godfather questions featuring VITO, since these people are in the entertainment business you'd think they would know better
Has anyone seen the episode that Betty is talking about at the end of the video at 2:50? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bEZkCnTKGW4.html
I HATED that Star Wheel! They should have stuck with they did before; you can't pick the same person twice in a row (or in saint Richard's case, you can't pick the same person period). But I HATED that Star Wheel
