In Round 2, Charlie would have matched the entire Match Game 98 panel with "Ball" because all of them would have used the plural (which I think was the intended idea of the question that the panel missed).
Yeah, he was AWESOME. sometimes it would come on and he'd be lying down on the stairs, or doing something comical. i miss him. I miss the line up of daytime game shows. now there are too many talk shows or Dr. shows. (no offense dr. oz..love him and love ellen, and meredith, but wayyyy too many. ) Used to have game shows and Phil Donahue. sigh. ahhhh the good old days!
Drunk. They shot 5 episodes per day. After the first two they took lunch where all the celebs drank. They are legendary for being drunk on the show, but Gene stumbles all over the place here, clearly 2 sheets to the wind. Must have been a mean drunk, if this is to tell.
***** The same thing happened in episode 1173 of MG78. There was a baseball question. Men responded with 'chest protecter', ladies responded with 'bat'.
Fanny Flagg who wrote Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe" which on the big screen was called "fried Green Tomatoes" Just a bit of trivia for those who may not have already known that. (she was also a comedic actress, in fact..that's how most of us knew her!)
I didn't know that, but...i don't see how that makes any difference to what i said. She still wrote that book, and she still was on match game a lot of time. Im not interested in her personal life at all. other than the fact that she mentioned a town she used to live in once on that show, and a friend of mine lived there as did Fannie Flagg. :)
+OutdoorLifeFamily Yeah, she was. She was a partner to writer Rita Mae Brown. Of course, she never publicly acknowledged it, the way things were in the late seventies, early eighties. She was one of my favorites on the show.
I think this is my favorite episode so far and I have watched more than a fair share of episodes. Charles was so funny I want to say he stole the show but it was great all around.
"I hope you have some babies real soon," Rayburn says to her as she disappears - he really seems to be trying to top the celebs with the over the top treatment of the contestants
I would have been about 6 or 7 at this point.. these people always seemed CRAZY and FUN to me.. I thought.. who are all these crazy people? All i knew is I loved watching this game show as a kid.. it was sooooo different than any other. DA BEST
*Why do I have the feeling the judges gave Charles the "See-Saw" answer* *just to help move this never-ending deadlock thing along ....? lol* *And are there other "Worst Contestants" vdeos or just this one?*
I'm kinda glad he was part of this episode too. He actually seemed to enjoy himself on this one. Showed a fair bit of personality, which was nice to see so close to the end.
I think the wheel at the end is bull crap, you should pick whoever you want. Just because the other stars couldn't handle people always calling on Richard 🙄
If they can't play the game there (I'm a third of the way through this --- do either of them get ONE answer matched?!) --- why would these unfortunates want to bring home the free "Match Game" game?!
Bryce Landon It sure was. This reminds me of an earlier episode of Match Game PM. It was during its first season in 1975. The front end game had only TWO rounds then. The game ended in a 0-0 tie. They went to a regular tie break round, similar to the CBS daytime version (Match Game 7x (seventy something)). This tiebreak round ended with one contestant getting shut out while the other contestant got only ONE match. The contestant match Richard Dawson. It was the only match in the front end game, including the tiebreak round.
Although Richard Dawson did get the correct answer most of the time when it came to the question after the super match, Charles Nelson Reilly always matched everyone in the first three rounds!! Thats why he always had the Definitive Answer!
A manual transmission vehicle has no "park" option. Neutral IMO is the definitive answer. Reverse, to me, would be "going to the other team" do to speak.
This episode was brutal but the guy managed to pull out on top. Not too shabby for a dood who forgot to take his smart pills 55 hundred bucks back in the day with a probably made him want to quit his job at NASA
Okay, well, as bad as they both were -- *I* would have lost the money at the end by saying 'Youngman,' so let's all just take a breath on the question of smart vs ... not.
Charlie may have given bad answers, but Sue was worse because she didn't seem to understand how the game works. Give thanks to Charles and Elaine for saving the game and the day.
Gene had a great sense of humor when he said "We have a matched pair here". Then on Round 3 Charles would match them. Oh, and you got to love Richard Dawson's reaction. In the end, the contestant won $5500 thanks to Elaine Joyce.
For the first question, the kind lady may have misunderstood the question, but I may have read too much into it, because my reply would have been 'Nipsey Russell'.
Charles was Smokin' Hot in this one,, if not for him, they would have still been playing,,,,lol. I have seen worse players than this in the Daytime episodes. At any rate any of these are the Greatest of Game Shows. Here and enjoying in 2019
+Terry Baker I know, when I watch this shows on Buzzr I try to make my mind think like the 1970s, not the 2010s, for a guess on Super Match. At least I have an easier time with that than guessing who 50% of the mystery guests on What's My Line are.
Un Real ,, LOL .... I watch Match game bout everyday on BuZZr ,, I've Never seen this Episode .. They got where they play the Same week long series every 2 weeks .. GoTta Love Y_Tube
Some of those questions were a bit hard. I guess I would have misunderstood them as well. Like when they were looking for a particular person in the watermelon question. Charles was great.
Couldn't have been Weird Wanda's neighborhood--We've been closed for renovations for the last 40 years. No one can make up their mind on what wall paper to use.
