The full episode of Match of the Day from the 13th November 1982.Featuring Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur & West Ham United v Norwich City plus the goals from Dundee United & Glasgow Rangers.. Presented by Jimmy Hill & Bob Wilson
Man u had quality throughout the field,as opposed to Spurs, who had Glenn Hoddle (not having one of his most productive days for sure )but he needed some decent(not just Journeyman average) help. Where as United Midfield--Muhren,(class) Robson,(who looked World class then) Remi Moses,Steve Copple. And upfront Spurs had Steve Archibald who was a tremendous hard working "Goal Poatcher" & Man u .Frank Stapleton and Norman Whiteside(pretty useful to say the least).. But a enjoyable game, brings back fond memories, watching football played by men,no diving around, hard tacking,(some rule bending of course!) But football played the way it was meant to be played!👍👍. p.s..And my goodness Paul McGrath on his debut looked so measured& comfortable! A truly World Class player for Aston Villa and the Rep of Ireland👍☘️👍☘️.
Enjoyed watching Man Utd-Spurs match. Man Utd good value for the win, Spurs looking off colour throughout, especially Glenn Hoddle, and really blunt in attack. Seem to remember this wasn't a great season for us and only a very late rally brought UEFA Cup football the following year and of course THAT final...
The only professional appearance of Mark Metcalf's career when he came on for Norwich for the last 10 minutes. Eventually left City in the summer of 1987 having never come close to playing for the first team again!
hoddle wasnt really an athlete. But it doesnt excuse his laziness throughout his career. Never tracked back, q happy to lose, he just loved individual brilliance over team effort. He was a better manager actually.
