Parents: Young people nowadays, they must watch so much dangerous stuff thinking we don't know Young people: *watching Karolina photoshop youtubers into the historical era they look like they belong in*
@@misterminutes4504 slavs don't like what westerners call "a polite smile". It comes off as forced and disingenuous. Also I'm pretty sure most slavic languages got their own variation of proverb _"smile without reason is a sing of a fool"_
As someone with an art history education in my background, I have always done this with my friends without saying anything. Then one day, one of them needed to do a photo replicating a painting for a competition, and asked me for advice because of that part of my education, and I immediately, much too excitedly told her about how she looks exactly like Herma, one of Gustav Klimt's favorite models, right down to her habitual way of standing and the shape of her hands. Imagine the mix of "creeped out vibe" and "delighted surprise" when you find your friend can point you to your doppelganger in an old painting.
Haha, that's great! Please tell me she got a perfect grade on that project. I've been finding my friends and family doppelganger portraits for... maybe three years? People freak a bit when you show them their doubles, but will pretty much always be WAY INTO seeing the mutual friends you've identified in historical paintings and photographs. Have you found your own portrait yet?
@@asenseofyarning5614 lol, yes, a good friend I went to college with pointed me out, and everyone enthusiastically agreed, myself included. However, that particular model, in the painting where she looks most strikingly like me, is nude 🤣 How about you, have you found yourself?
Margherita's dress is probably going to cost me a few years of labor and at least $250 in materials. Until my autoimmune disease is in remission it isn't very feasible; currently I can't sit at a sewing machine for more than ten minutes at a time and hate to spend money when I don't earn an income. ✨BUT I CAN DREAM.✨ I made my wedding gown (feels like a lifetime ago, lol) and have been itching to do more involved projects with amazing textiles. I won't ask if you're going to make your doppelganger's costume, although it'd be a quick job! 😆 Do you sew or do any other fiber arts? Talking shop with strangers is usually the highlight of my day.
we should comment on danny, drew and kurtis’ youtube channels “you look like your from the *insert timeline karolina put for them here*” as much as we can
@Mikky Renee Well she didn't say she's not gorgeous or self depricate her appearance? all she said is her skills at makeup suck, which isn't the same as calling yourself ugly lmao
Speaking of problematic, the comment sections on Karolina's videos are so unproblematic 😭 It's just fun and silly jokes, no shit takes or petty fights! Karolina's videos are amongst the only ones where I would venture into the comment section without fear of my sanity... Thanks y'all, and Karolina, for the good vibes.
It's because once most people get money and fame they start acting reckless and aren't really held accountable. Plus the type of people that become top top youtubers tend to relate to the average person's base desires and those people tend to be a little bit shitty already. And many of them get this fame and money and a younger age and most people make terrible decisions when we're young. Combine all those factors and you've got a recipe for disaster. Same goes for people in the past most of the people we know from the past were rich, normal people don't tend to make the history books. Rich people have always been able to do whatever they want and didn't care about others. So we look back and go wtf guys that's messed up
OMG, it's so weird that you mentioned a milkmaid because I once worked with a young lady of German or Swiss ancestry (her surname ended with a "dl"), and she looked like Rembrandt would've painted her as a German or Swiss milkmaid.
I love how she was so lighthearted the whole video but randomly decided to throw in a "people are so wierd, like why are our faces that different from one another, like were litteraly the same species" quit making me think karolina😑
I have heard of exactly one of these channels. Ah the joys of social media algorithms and their ability to create a completely warped view of reality. Based on the recommendations RU-vid gives me, one would think that RU-vid is 90% costuming/historical clothing and cooking videos.
This video was a rollercoaster of emotions. Mainly between ‘creeped out’ and ‘very amused’. And also, yes indeed, who has the energy to smile all the time??
I remember I used to think I was insane for thinking people's faces match different historical eras because an old friend of mine told me it was stupid and faces can't match historical eras.. I guess they were wrong 🥴
Never! Faces really do have a vibe matching historical eras/settings I suppose, maybe, we unconsciously associate them because some faces are more frequently represented in portraits from specific eras and regions, and in visual products about those eras (like movies), but whatever the reason, the connection exists. And it's fun to notice these things
Because they match the faces we associate with those periods. But sometimes if you look at old photos and video footage, you'll find someone who looks unexpectedly modern... Time travelers? 🤔
It's just that some people match certain eras' beauty standards to a T; seriously, every body type has at some point been the height of beauty, it just sometimes doesn't match your current century.
Yeah and a lot of people say people in the past look so weird and ugly and we evolved in looks but nope it’s just the lack of makeup probably their version of photoshop and beauty standards for the time that’s making them look “weird” heck someone from the future might say 2021 people look weird lol
Okay but Danny Gonzalez is definitely Regency era, his face compared to paintings of men in the Regency era of England, Danny Gonzalez is definitely Regency era I think that you should try this again but put his face on one of those paintings
Plot Twist: the faces match the eras so well because, being a time traveller, Karolina actually met these people in their past reincarnations. No wonder some of them look so similar to the portraits. It's them!
It’s funny how many old portraits aren’t facing forward but the youtubers faces are and it just gets into the uncanny valley, especially with Cristine😂
I'm not going to lie, I knew none of those youtubers except Pewdiepie and Mr. Beast (I have a teenager) and I was dropping dead on the couch laughing at this entire thing. Between the deadpan, the apathy, the lack of perfectionism and the utmost absurdity of the rambling commentary, I died. I have to go write my obituary now. Please phoroshop me for my funeral XD
My cat sleeps under the blankets often. It’s hilarious to watch her struggle up the side of the bed and slither under the covers, then looking like a lump in the end. So, I completely understand why you would want to be by the kitty in that state.
I totally cracked up when Karolina was opening her "hot Victorian men" Pinterest board and suddenly the Finnish word for "kitchen scales" (keittiövaaka) flashed before my eyes :DD It truly is beyond me why that would be in her recommended ahaha.
I have used a Civil War photo of a soldier and superimposed a friends face on it to use as a reference for a civil war portrait digital painting so its always fun to make stuff like that.
Well if I were a youtuber you would love me for this bc i take every picture like it's a historical portait, not one smile on sight, head tilted, all of it.
I can't believe I just watched a twenty five minute video of someone attempting to photoshop popular youtubers onto old paintings while complaining about people smiling too much and her cat being weird
Honestly her mood in this is my exact same mood when I take screenshots of random youtubers to use as drawing references just cause they have the right look I’m going for for the character I’m drawing 😂
You gushing on hot Victorian men is the single greatest thing I’ve seen today! And, Bretman has done nothing but age beautifully. He’s going to be one of those lucky few who does nothing but get better and better as he goes along. He’s too much fun!
I know what u mean! There was this girl in my 12th grade English class who had very pale skin, large round blue eyes, a round face, and a high hairline. One day during lunch she complained about her skin and hairline and I was like "you'd be a huge hit in medieval England tho."
You NEED to do this with Bernadette Banner, Rachel Maksy, you, Jasmine Chiswell, Micarah Tewers, and Jessica Vill. Those are just a few of my favorite RU-vidrs. In my top 10 for sure. Anyway, yeah. Have a good day!!
Now I request to see Karolina herself in her appropriate decade. Or decades, as the case may be. This is so impressive. Your portrait choices were flawless! (Bretman Rock looked especially amazing in your time period choice for him.) Your knowledge of portraiture is incredible. Also, this was just really great fun to watch, so thank you. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 “People need to stop laughing in pictures because it’s making things complicated…that’s just inconvenient.” 😂 …srsly how did she do it…
