There are websites where you can make Jali patterns and import them into MatrixGold. I think the website is in one of the videos, but I can't remember which one. But there is a way to expand your library if you want.
Can you explain why after you offset the surface you changed the direction of the white arrows from going out to going in? Then after you hid that top surface you checked the direction of the little white arrows on the surface remaining and then changed the direction white arrows from IN to OUT. Can you explain the reason for changing the directions as you did? And maybe more, in general about those directions arrows? TIA!
The arrows are the surface direction. The white arrows are the normals. The normals should always be going outwards from the surface. If I would have done the flow command with the normals or white arrows pointing in it would have flown or placed any item including pave gems on the inside of my surface. Many times when you are working on something and it’s placing the items on the wrong side of the surface you’ll have to change the direction of the surface. Why did you have to fix the curves by changing the ‘fit to tolerance’ and changing in the degree from 5 to 3. What did that give you that you didn’t have before? TIA
First let me say you can also use the surface command shrink trimmed surface to edge to be able to make that surface for the auto base. When you rebuild a curve you always have a very small change in the curve right. Well because the edges of that curve are needed to keep that surface exactly where it is in order not to create any naked edges I couldn’t use the rebuild command. Fit to Torrance is rebuild but it will not alter the curve in any way. This way I can do the sweep without having to worry about creating naked edges. I changed it to a degree three because Gemvision recommends not going above degree three when changing the degrees . Although they have never really said why and to tell you the truth I have never asked but maybe it’s a good time to. Lol I will go deeper in explaining the fit Torrence command in the future.
There could be several reasons. First rhino and MG don’t like any areas that are open. So making sure all those points get to the right place is very important. Try dragging more points down. Also you need to make sure the points didn’t separate and leave an open surface. So doing the mesh reducer to get less points to drag down is a very important step. I would redo the mesh and do smartflow again.
