I don't think sehwag is good one day batsman. His record always show that he is far better batsman in then one day. Instead of sehwag he could pick Ganguly, Jayasuriya, Sangakkara who are far better than sehwag in one day
Waqar was a legendary bowler and could have gotten batsmen like laxman and dravid anytime. And Hayden did pick great batsmen Gilchrist, Sehwag, Ponting, Tendulkar, Lara. So there is no need to pick more batsmen. But I see where the jealousy is coming from.
@Sam Anderson I think she's also right in her place. Think one in a leisurely way. Both Gilchrist nd Sehwaag can never be trusted. A player like Dravid or Sangakara should also be in the team. Someone in the whole team should be restraint.

Any world cup XI must have Sanath Jayasuriya. He changed the role of openers in One-Day (one could argue Krish Srikanth changed it and Sanath perfected it)

i am 27 year old indian and somebody who grew up seeing the 90's cricket..and i agree 100% with heydos here...hated him for scoring so many against us but he is a legend...and ya 12th man murali on a turning pitch is a great say...i don't like murali for his 350+ wickets against weaker teams but ya must agree he is a legend too...

Actually Its WORLD CUP XI and South Africans haven't been at their best in World Cups. That is the reason AB is not in the XI! Else there's no chance AB is not in an ODI playing XI.

@@holypunk12: you already have Gilchrist as wicket keeper, why do you need MSD? You could replace MSD with Michael Bevan - terrific finisher. I would have Ponting as captain. Can swap waqar for Muralitharan. In reserves, i would've Brett Lee for sure.

Not so silly. Gilchrist is like Sehwag in that he can take a game away from you if he's out there for a decent amount of time. I would rather have that x factor than sangakarra, Gilchrist's also superior with the gloves. With Ponting, Lara, Kallis in the middle order, no real need for Sangakarra there's enough building there. Tbh I would pick Dhoni over Sangakarra too for his ability to close out games in pressure situations. This video is now 5 years old so obviously Kohli is a must now.

Probably the best one can pick. The only downside of this team is lower order can't bat but you may not need them if you have a player with 24000 runs playing at no. 6 (Kallis).
