Body checking and hitting numbers are also down over 60% from a decade or so ago. The league has nearly fully phased out fighting and enforcement from the game, and they are already ruining body checking and hitting now. The concerns over concussions and CTE will see the NFL be a flag football league within a few decades, and the NHL will be a stick checking only league. No body contact at all allowed.

It's sad to see the enforcers gone from hockey. Nick is the last of a dying breed along with guys like Ryan Reaves. Eric Lindros was big on that trick. (Look up the fight with Matt Barnaby). It was part of the fight not to be taken down.

i was on the ice at the start of a bench clearing brawl and i picked a guy off the pile. boston area team vs ontario. 15 years old. i am 5'6 and the guy i picked was huge. he rag dolled me and left my forehead purple, kind of like this flyer, but it didn't hurt or swell up. no biggie -- had a great time, although i'd like to win the next one.
