Never saw/heard Pink Floyd life, have been to two Brit Floyd concert, and in a few months will see/hear em for third time, Brit Floyd are in my book the closest you can come to Pink Floyd today, they are a truly amazing cover band of one of the great ones ❤️

Exactly. Perfectly said. I'm going to see these guys in a week August 5th. I got good seats. I'm taking my 18 yr old nephew , he's never heard of Pink Floyd. I know he's going to love it.

Great story Matt, I'm glad it lead you to playing music. Hard to believe it's been 50 years already. This album will be listened to long after we're all gone.

Love this!! I grew up listening to Floyd and although my parents weren't real good at the parenting thing, they at least listened to some great music that I still listen to today! We've been to so many Brit Floyd shows and I fall in love even more with each show. I'm not one for the cover bands, but I am absolutely in LOVE with you all!!

I've been a Pink Floyd fan for over 50 years and have seen them in concert once. David Gilmour twice and Roger Waters once. This year I saw the Brit Floyd concert for the first time and was really impressed. The unique thing about Brit Floyd is that they packed everything into one show. I didn't get that with PF so I really enjoyed it. I felt as though I got a lot more for my money to be honest and the whole show was amazing. This 2022 crew is some of the hardest working, dedicated and talented group you'll see in a PF Tribute band. I even went to see the show twice and it was slightly different the second time. That was a treat as well. Damian Darlington (music director, and lead guitarist) is so attentive to how the show is presented down to the finest details. Would I see them again? Absolutely! and again and again. They're that good.

Saw Brit Floyd several times when they first started up, they had Bobby Harrison as the main guitarist then, totally blew me away with their shows, however they seem to enjoy touring America more than they do Britain nowadays, so perhaps they should change their name to American Floyd.

Yes, in ~1973 Pink Floyd was a pretty obscure little band. Unlike their peers of that era, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Doors, etc., Pink Floyd had no US radio hits, they made no television appearances to promote their albums (except for a brief, awkward appearance by a Syd Barrett fronted PF on Dick Clark in 1967). None of them had overt media personalities and their photos were not blasted across magazine covers. There were no readily available videos of the bands’ live performances. Even after DSOTM, the band members continued to be relatively anonymous into the 1980s. It was all about the experience of the music, not the flamboyance of personality. This “obscurity” gave a certain level of mysteriousness to the band which I found to make the whole experience of engaging the music and contemplating every detail of the album artwork even more intriguing and compelling.

I wish I could go back in time and erase this album from my memory so I can experience listening to it for the first time again. I don't remember where or when I first listened to it start to finish. I do however vividly the first time I listened to it while stoned.

All of them with Roger had this persona. Animals. The Wall. Wish you Were here. The only one that had a different vibe was The Final Cut..but still had those poetic cerebral elements as well as the syncopation of earlier work. Pink Floyd is timeless.

"An obscure little band struggling to find their way .." What???!!! With respect, that's bullshit - by the time DSOTM was released in 1973, Floyd had released 7 - yes, 7 - albums. They were, by this point, pretty huge in Europe - very, very far from 'struggling' - get your facts straight, sir ..

With all due respect they had a strong cult following. DSOTM is what got them into the mainstream and out of debt. Everyone knows what I meant.
@petelovett7175

@@wilecuyote Really.... again, with respect, I saw them at Earls Court in 1973, as DSOTM was hitting the charts. I believe they did two nights - that's an audience of around 40,000 people - hardly a small cult band struggling to pay their bills...I totally appreciate what you're saying, but it's really US-centric to dismiss them as 'unheard of', just because they hadn't had a 'hit' in the US. A visit to the Nick Mason Saucerful of Secrets tour might give you an idea of what this incredible band were about, prior to Dark Side...

I was introduced to Dark Side/Pink Floyd, way back in 73/4, and I can honestly say I've listened to PF or BF, everyday since. Particularly like the Red Rock gigs. Anybody else in here think BF should do more concerts in the UK?

Obscure little band ??? Struggling ?? 6 or 7 albums already done … you talk like you are part of Pink Floyd not a cover band !!! They made the music you just copy it don’t forget that 👍

Once again, DSOTM changed everything for them. They went from cult following to mainstream. Not to mention out of debt and very successful. Everyone knows what I meant.
