It's like idk did some people just not learn that? This is my issue with Matt. I didn’t know anything about his recent controversy but I’ve seen clips of his jokes in the past and I just felt like his jokes were just not that funny. I didn’t think they were set up or written well enough to get an actual pay off. He just relies more on his exaggerated tone of voice or body language and that alone can’t compensate for bad writing. For me, the best jokes are a little clever and make you think a little.

I honestly have mixed feelings on the original reel. Like she and her kid definitely don’t deserve any hate, I’m not messed up. I just think it is a touch hypocritical for her to say that she wants her kid’s safety but shows his face uncensored on the internet. Showing his face/having his identity known is going to affect his life in ways we don’t know yet, given it’s the age of the internet where everything a child (or anyone) posts on the internet where it will be there forever for anyone in that person’s life to see. That’s also not including all of the legitimately disgusting sickos that will keep screenshots of children’s faces, pictures, and videos (and now some AI Bro buttheads on Twitter were showcasing how they’re making a bot that’ll be immediately used maliciously by people to deepfake videos of anyone who they have a picture of to do whatever movements they want!). So idk overall I think it’s good the mom called out Matt Rife for his nasty comments towards her and her son, but I can’t exactly take her statements about thinking about her child’s safety by showing off his identity for everyone to see seriously (though it is pretty cute and funny to see a kid clearly interested in space correcting an adult man).
