That can be for multiple reasons. The young age of the girls who were getting pregnant is one reason, as females who are younger than 20 have a greater risk of issues during pregnancy and childbirth. Let's also remember that these women often lived in unsanitary conditions, if we're talking about medieval Europe, plus there was a lack of prenatal care for a lot of women. Food items and drinks, like tons of meat that could've been crawling with parasites could also be a reason.

This isn't true. People didn't die at the age of 30 or 40. The reason why the average life expectancy historically was so low is infant mortality and unnatural causes of death. If people weren't killed in a war or died of an illness, they would usually make it to 60. (BTW i'm not trying to defend walsh, he's a PDF file)
