I bought an M18 several years ago in 300 WinMag. I love this thing. Ironically, I bought it for use with an electronic/night vision scope. However use of such scopes is now illegal in my state so I cannot use it for its intended purpose. Anyway, it has made several rifles now obsolete or at least redundant. Due to the heavy electronic scope, I bought this because of its light weight and good reviews and I found a great deal. Something awesome I found is that the loads I shoot in my Remington 700 "Police" (target) rifle shoot to the same point of impact as the M18 so they can share handloads! Awesome rifle that outclasses many of the others in this price range. The only downside is that I cannot fine any accessories to change or adjust any of the features but it's pretty awesome as-is.
I have one in .270 for State Forest hunting and love the thing. Does the job every time. Well done on the channel mate. No nonsense and good content. Much appreciated
Great review, I have a M12 30.06 and a Sauer 100 .223. I can shoot MOA or less @200m - 300m with either all day but with the M12's lighter barrel it gets whippy pretty quick. I'm waiting on a M18 LR in 308 (or maybe 6.5C). I love these rifles accuracy and the bang for $$$ is outstanding.
I bought a M18 in 308 and it’s magic I love it more than the sauer 100 my friend has and he said I should have got - I prefer the M18 - a rifleman’s rifle
I've owned a Steyr and have handled the M18. The M18 stock is definitely not as good! The Steyr stock is really solid. I'm keen to get a Sauer 100, the bolt is smoother on the Mauser but the Sauer feels better and all reports accuracy wise are outstanding even though they are close relatives with some interchangeable parts and both made by Sauer.
My Mauser m18 is in a .300win and its an absolute beast i use it with a xm30 pulsar thermion for night hunting and i cannot fault the set up at all every shot has been a kill. definitely a brilliant hunting rifle.
Hey mate I’ve got a M18 308 win and I love it. 🇦🇺👍 I understand my lucky 13 mags fit in a Sauer 308/243 etc. I own Tikka, Howa and can’t fault the people’s rifle .... Love it . Good content keep up the good work we need more Aussies like you 🏁🦘🐻🤛🏿🏁
Good review mate, I am a big fan of these rifles. My brother has one in .270 and it's great. My only gripe with them is the stock felt a bit cheap and hollow compared to my Tikka, and the magazine retention spring would randomly come out. But at 2/3rds the price of the Tikka, with a similar weight, trigger, action, and accuracy, it's a winner I reckon.
My first rifle. Owned about 6 months. I bought 5 different boxes of ammo and all of them shoot within 3 moa. I reckon most of that is me.. Of course I sprayed quite a few at the start. In 3006... Das is good ya?
Damn it now that’s made me miss mine but my safety had to be faulty it as it would go straight to fire even over the shoulder it would click off only reason o got rid of it
Hey mate, it’s a bolt action, so you don’t need to go too over the top. Store it with a light coat of oil. Wipe it dry before use. Lubricant attracts dirt and crud, and will not benefit the operation of the rifle. After firing pull through the barrel and re-oil.
does american ammo cause a sticking problem feeding ammo, i used federal ammo an sometime the shell would not feed. with out backing out an try again/ PPU works better but not smooth like other bolts rifle i have had. SORRY about my grammar an english i am old 73 an my american is rusty i for get a lot but love to hunt.
I'm tossing up between one of these and a Howa 1500 Hogue stock for my first hunting rifle what's your thoughts on the mauser's stock? I hear there both good shooters.
