I'm from Germany and this is my favourite song that we've ever sent to the contest 👍. After all these years, I'm not tired of hearing it. The composition and chord structure is simple, but overall it sounds pretty noble. The instrumentation is so fine. I support Max since the beginning because I think he's one of the best soul singers we have here in the country. While he was good at that performance, I think he sang it better in the national final. In general, he has developed a lot since then. I can tell you there were a lot of expectations on this guy and in the end the public was quite disappointed with the 8th place which is ironic because it's still one of the best results from Germany since then. I think the international audience didn't really understand why he had his eyes closed almost all the time, and maybe he wasn't pop enough for the mainstream, but he always had to deal with that. He's always too soul or jazz for the pop world, but too pop for the soul and jazz scene and even though this was his only top 10 hit, he can still play in sold out venues. If there had been the jury voting at the time, it might have been placed a little higher, but in my opinion it was still one of the best songs in the competition that year.
Ein wunderbarer Song, einer der Besten des Grand Prix. Leider hat Max ihn hier nicht so gut hingekriegt wie er ihn sonst gesungen hat. Er wirkte sehr angestrengt auf mich, nervös, da fehlte einfach die Lockerheit. Trotzdem ein toller Beitrag. Und Raab der soviel Liebe und Freude in seine Projekte investiert hat, fehlt bis heute.

i seriously thought this was just a cover of a somewhat famous song and was looking for the orginal. quite surprised to find out this is the original one and especially that they only got 8th with such a great song in a competition which usually produces mostly mediocre music.

That must be comfy.. Anyways the song is really great and relaxing! Really enjoy it. But I feel like there are some similarities to the Netherlands's entry that year.
Gatti Schwarzenbacher im Gegensatz zu den anderen hört man von ihm noch recht viel. Hat doch erst für den Film "Schatz nimm du sie" die Filmmusik gemacht😉
listen to 0:35 there he sings the chorus in english later on he once sang it in turkish(has almost the exact same meaning as it is in the original english chorus).So because this eurovision was in turkey they probably wanted to add some turkish lyrics for fun 😊
