bruh why did they not give it to arcsystemworks, literal dumb fucks like literally give every shonen anime to arcsys and we will all be in the anime fighting game renaissance but noooo
They have Goku anger issues as a transformation for every game. They have Naruto literally being controlled and slowly dying as an awakening, they gave Luffy a move from his dead brother that died right in form of him. Ichigo literally loses all his powers making him human again giving him depression again. This is just a Shonen jump trend. He one of the boys
The eternal laws of the universe: What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell, Bungee Gum possesses the properties of both rubber and gum
Nah battle for the grid looks better than this! Thems fighting herds which arguably has an even smaller budget with a moveset around working with quadrupedal farm animals, TFH looks better than this mobile looking game
Yeah but there are stuff like Power Rangers Battle for the Grid that had a small budget and yet it still looks better than HxH because of how better the animations and stages look compared to HxH
I'd say it's actually the animation and lack of effects that give that impression. The character models look alright. It's just that everything else is subpar.
Woah, you're right, idk how I haven't seen other people mention it, it's so jarring now that I've seen it! This showcase feels like they reached a playable state and sent it immediately for top players to try out.
HxH and JoJo have the potential to be some of the most creative FG catalysts in fiction, but consolidating and balancing them in a fair way are going to be tough even if you give it the production budget that this kusoge sorely needs.
Heritage For The Future by Capcom is a pretty good JoJo fighter. It is VERY broken in terms of some characters being overpowered and others unviable, but it's a solid game mechanically.
JJK has a lot of potential for a 2d fighting game too, Todo would be a corner comboing GOD by constantly switching places with the opponent with his CT.
For anyone curious this game doesn't even have a release date yet, this was probably a test to gauge mechanics and stuff, so it definitively will look better, the question is just how much better.
Because the characters are naturally skinny in the show, the design proportion on the stages makes it feel empty as opposed to other fighting games where everyone is on steroids. They need to readjust the spacing and proportion of the background and stage designs to make it feel fuller
I like that Leorio pulls out a knife for at least one of his attacks. In a setting where people use yo-yo's and fishing poles as weapons, it's so funny that Leorio just has the power of Regular Knife
09:13 Haha really interesting how Max made that connection. It's literally made by the same mangaka. Btw, "N" is probably Nen. Nen is basically The Hunter X Hunter version of Ki or Chakra
Dude if we get manga chrollo he would honestly be a really fun setplay character, but most anime games hate manga additions, the only one I know is Jojo that added anything manga related
Someone mentioned this in Twitter and they have a point. If this game fails, we will not be getting anymore 2d anime Fighting games and will only be getting Arena anime fighting games.
I read on a japanese publication that this game only had about $650k to make this game . The majority of that going to the license. For comparision Thems Fighting Herds made $550k and that was an original ip Meaning this game had the budget of a crowdfunded game and still looks insanely fun.
@@germanelkapo1 no the point is that thems fighting herds is a crowd funded indie game. This is an “official” hunter x hunter game that’s budget is only a bit higher than a crowdfunded indie game.
3:10 assuming this game isn’t full price, this is a good thing. It reminds me of the early 2000s where there were plenty of smaller budget licensed games that were still super fun
Yeah the graphics not being current gen is a bummer, but considering this is a budget title and gets priced fairly, I'll happily take a proper HxH fighting game. Been playing Naruto Ultimate Ninja 5 on PS2 recently, and I missed having these focused small-scale games released.
Gotta love how for years people have said “I want more mid and low budget fighting games. Not everything needs to be multi year dev AAA fighting games with story modes. Give me a game with a lower budget, a smaller roster and less fancy graphics and I’ll gladly play it!”. There’s even been so many people who’ve loudly said “I JUST WANT EIGHTING TO MAKE ANOTHER TvC STYLE GAME AGAIN!” Then they get this game and immediately go “wait, not like that…”. Hypocrites and cowards. I for one actually meant it when I said it, and am looking forward to it.
@@EliReigns-vm1cn I have no name to give you tbh, just random FGC heads on Twitter and people replying to them. But it has been a sentiment I’ve seen over the least couple years, usually around the point in the cycle where the honeymoon period of a new AAA fighting game is over, or when a video for an old dormant fighting game franchise goes viral (Darkstalkers, Marvel, TvC, Bloody Roar, even stuff like Power Stone). It’s often ”we just want this franchise back in some form, you don’t even have to give it a big budget”. But really, when it does happen (or with an adaptation of a popular IP like HxH), it will always turn into people disappointed with what it isn’t, rather than all it realistically could be with the budget given. A lot of people also don’t seem to realize how big of a budget actually you need for a sizable, good looking fighting game, and how ”passion” don’t really matter when you’re not given the time and budget to make the game. Edit: Actually, for whatever it’s worth, I know that Max himself has said on his streams many times he want more low budget fighting games, and he even acknowledged it here. But even though he did acknowledge it, I think he could’ve cut this game a little more slack given how he’s said in the past this is what he wants more of, even though yes, it of course will sell less as a result. He was WAY more forgiving towards the Power Rangers game. He’s also friends with some of the PR devs, so I could understand if that’s why, but still think the HxH game deserve the same openminded approach given the circumstances.
First...... At least it ain't a Arena Fighter. 0:01 Eighting Cheese alright. I get the feeling of Tatsunoko vs Capvom from this gameplay. And another Fighting Game Eighting made.
Hunter X Hunter is the 2nd series by YuYu Hakusho's creator Yoshihiro Togashi. The series is considered an unfinished Masterpiece, and we may never see it end. The reason being, Togashi lost the ability to sit under his own power years ago, and can no longer keep a Manga artist's schedule. So he went from being weekly, to monthly, to whenever he can finish chapters. The main character, Gon, has a full character arc though if you read/watch from the series beginning up until to World Tree, it tells Gon's full story, and most of Killuas. Leorio and Kurapika's story continues in the next series of chapters and arcs, but left unfinished on a few major cliff hangers. WARNiNG: The series is SUPER DEEP AND WORDY, Togashi went deep into explaining everyone's attacks, down to how much energy they use, weakness, strengths.. everything.
@@ghostbladevanguard514 The issues I have with it are that it can be very very word heavy, almost novel like at times and chapters are way to drawn out because of this.
@@marbles8641 for me personally I like all that dialogue, but this is coming from a comic guy though. Paying $4 for a comic that barely has any writing in it.
Think about this. Not counting Jump Force or JStars Vs, the last HxH or Yu Yu fighting game we ever got was the PS2/PSP era. Despite how rough and early this looks I AM STOKED. This snuck up on me, thanks for covering this Max. :D God i want this game! ❤❤❤❤
This is SO insane to see for me. I've been watching Max for so many years and HxH has been my favorite anime for even longer. I'm glad Max is getting some kind of exposure to the series and even though the game is pretty rough looking visually, it'll no doubt be a good time. I think Power Rangers found a good community despite also looking pretty rough and having a small budget. I still hope Nen Impact gets more time to cook though and give us a HxH game fans deserve, we've been starved for too long
@@tkm1875 Like Max also said in the vid, it's pretty much what I and I think most people were expecting. If anyone had an arcsys level of visuals in their head for this then that's on them
Since battle for the grid was a really fun low budget game I’m still optimistic for this game. And battle for the grid also launched with a small roster so as long as the game is priced right it should be fine.
I feel if the camera and shit for the game felt less flat, the animations and gameplay would shine a lot better. Like, that's all it needs FR and it'll look fine. I just hope it's like, $40 or less
Hopefully it follows Nick Allstar Brawl where the first game had a low budget but the success of it made Nickelodeon realize the potential and gave the sequel the proper budget it needed
As a HxH fan, I'm just happy we getting an 8ing tag fighter based on it budget be damned. The power system of the series also means that some of the character synergy could get nutty.
One of the immediate issue of this game's visual and would be easy to fix is the lack of dynamic camera movement, the game looks a bit too zoomed out and there aren't any dynamic camera angle movements aside from the super flash. Gameplay looks amazing and I guerentee the FGC will love it but without the dynamic visual flare this might turn off a lot of casuals. An easy experiment you can do is to boot up any modern fighting game and just look at the camera work, a good example is Tekken 8, DBFZ and GGS, the camera changes to this dynamic look very often which fires dopamine in the brain a lot
He's definitely trolling. I don't think he's super into it, but he knows. I'm sure these characters and shows come up with his friends and such. He also played Jump Force before at one point
I’m not surprise if he doesn’t know about HunterxHunter. I didn’t know about the series until a channel called Animax aired the 1999 version. Without it I probably wouldn’t have watched the 2011 version.
Can't wait to play this on my PSP, I hope it gets a DS port too. Could also be sick on a dream cast with its built in dial up modem for multi-player, just gotta find some one who still offers dial up internet.
Can’t wait to see you cover this new Hunter X Hunter Nen Impact game, enjoyed watching you play Dragonball Fighterz and Power Rangers Battle for the Grid back in the day so excited for this 2.
Just wanted to add, as someone that loves hunter x hunter and fighting games, this is kinda the best case scenario for a 1st time showing. hunter x hunter only has a handful of games, that no one knows about, and are mostly mobile games. it's a really good story, with really good characters, but it doesnt get the same appreciation as dragon ball, the big 3, or modern anime. So basically, between the budget, and the material to go off of, from my perspective, this games looking real promising
Unfortunately, to me that suggests that they're going to do a small initial roster with a ton of DLC. I'd love to be wrong, but I don't have a ton of confidence given the way game companies have been handling DLC, microtransactions and the like.
@@AmuroNT1 It's less that they're having a small launch roster with a ton of DLC and more that the budget couldn't allow for that many more characters. Given the game's scope it's not super likely it gets DLC for more than a season or two. It's more out of necessity than an attempt at money grubbing (which is true for a good few fighting games, but here it's more egregious)
From the little I heard about this footage it was played off an alpha build of the game so everything looking so rough and unfinished is probably because of that, but even still best bet is this game coming out sometime next year and there's only so much you could polish this up
The Thing is the gameplay looks fun but the graphics could’ve been a bit better. However it doesn’t look awful and as a big hxh fan I hope it looks better before launch day
The limited roster reminds me of Skull girls, but man this game made me recall the PS1 days, when we had new fighting games every month, almost every anime got their ps1 figting game.
It really feels like Tatsucap when you think about it. They could juuuust work on that hud a little more because it feels so cheap, like it was taken straight from a mugen game.
@@frankiecedeno3724Yeah but the biggest issue with MvC was that they didn't adequately service the fans. This game definitely won't be missing main characters fans want to see.
Going to be tough to narrow down who gets those final 10 spots. The Phantom Trouple alone could fill it out. Probably going to be: Biscuit, Chrollo, Meruem, Illumi, Neferpitou, Knuckle, Shizuku, Genthru, Shaiapouf, and Melody.
I wanna get excited for this game but man this looks so freaking outdated. And me not being that big of a hunter x hunter fan doesn't help either. I haven't watched that anime in over 10 years now. I've forgotten most of what happens in that show. 😂
Same here with my girl. She wants to main Hisoka. She rather enjoyed the My Hero One's Justice titles but this? A tag team fighter? Will be interesting to see our girls fair when picking it up
Are we forgetting there been one snippet of this before this gameplay lmao let them work on it. I’m sure the visuals will improve over time lol. I’m actually excited for the end results
This isn't marvel vs Capcom infinite ugly. All of these characters look straight out of the anime. Just needs a little more work towards the sound effects and the HUD. This looks good tho. Seems really early so I'm sure it'll look better closer to release. Another positive is that it definitely won't be full price $70
So this is what a modern Kusoge looks like. Honestly, if it had to happen to any franchise I am glad it happened to HxH, those guys trive on suffering and pain.
If it's a $20 to $30 dollar entry point, I think it's perfect. Specially if 8ing learned their lesson from DNF, and release the game with a season pass to hold people's attention while they gauge if it's worth investing any further into the game.
MvCI is not a good comparison. That game released at $60, announced DLC on the same day, and had a roster full of MCU characters that no one plays. I'll take this game over another arena fighter or another game with 50+ characters that have 5 tournament viable picks that all the pros play
Always open to new fighting games, but this is reaaally bland. As someone who knows nothing about the franchise, it's hard to be excited for this. It looks technically sound, which is cool, fighting games are hard to make... but I think there should be some sense of identity and I just don't see that, yet. Hopefully it's just early.
I’m interested in what they could do with this game. Sure they’ll start it off small but if they add to it over time we could see characters from the Hunter Exams, YorkNew, Greed Island leading to the newest arc in the manga after a while. I’d love to see how they implement characters like; Chrollo, Zeno, Silva and the Phantom Troupe in the game.
